Terry Dwayne McGhee, 71, of Latimer County, Oklahoma passed away at his home on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
A family directed memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the Compassion Church, Sulphur, Oklahoma with Rev. Kyle Horton officiating.
Terry was born on April 21, 1955, in Sentinel, Oklahoma, to Alton Wayne McGhee and Mary Leota (Johnson) McGhee. During his childhood, his family lived in several Oklahoma communities, including Hominy, Erick, and Thomas, where he ultimately graduated from high school.
A dedicated rancher from an early age, Terry began managing his first ranch at just 21 years old. Throughout his career, he successfully managed ranches in Davis, Chickasha, Durant, and Idabel, earning the respect of those who knew him for his strong work ethic, and love of the land.
Following his retirement in 2002, Terry settled in the beautiful mountains of Latimer County, where he created a private oasis surrounded by nature. There, he enjoyed the peace and solitude he cherished, spending the final 24 years of his life in the place he proudly called home.
Terry is survived by his children: Jason Allen and wife Lori, Amber McGhee, Michael Weekly, Cody Myers and wife Tara, and Miranda Myers; grandchildren: Jason Allen and wife, Samantha, Searia Hawkins and husband Jon, Hunter Collins and wife Hannah, Alex Gordon, Zowie Gordon, Gage O’Dell, Axel Weekly, Cady Myers, Jayke Myers, Tate Myers, Colton Wooten, Bailey Miller, and Braylon; 8 great-great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn McGhee, brothers, Danny McGhee, and Butch Ward; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents: Alton Wayne McGhee and Mary Leota (Johnson) McGhee; and brother, Jerry McGhee.
More than his accomplishments, Terry will be remembered for the love he shared with his family. To his grandson, he was nothing less than “Superman” — a larger-than-life hero whose strength, wisdom, and unwavering presence made him someone to admire and emulate. The bond they shared was one of Terry's greatest treasures and will remain a cherished memory for those who loved him.
