The Williamson High School Athletic Hall of Fame Board of Directors wants to thank everyone that attended the HOF's 2026 Induction Ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 1. Over 100 people were in attendance to watch the newest class of Hall of Famers be inducted and to honor the 1985-1986 WHS boys basketball team who won the Class AA State Championship with a 48-46 win over Wheeling Central.

The 29th class of former WHS athletes to be enshrined with other Wolfpack greats are Tony Austin (class of 1985), Chris Hatcher (class of 2011), Jim Leftwich (class of 1976), and Renee' Jackson Robison (class of 1987).

During the ceremony HOF Board of Directors also presented the 2026 Friend of the Pack Awards to the families of the late Jackie Finley and Earl Howard while Williamson PK8 8th grader Cayden Alley was given the Bobby Gene Oliver All-American Award.

WILLIAMSON — It has been nearly 40 years since the 1985-1986 Williamson High School boys basketball team defeated Wheeling Central Catholic 48-46 to win the Class AA state championship.

Doors open for the meet-and-greet at 3 p.m. with the ceremony set to begin at 4 p.m.

The 1985-1986 WHS boys basketball squad will be recognized during the 29th Annual Induction Ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 4 p.m. inside the Williamson Community Center in West End.
