I saw this installation at the Hospital of Emotions in Los Angeles, and my first thought was,
This is what so many high-achieving women describe in therapy.
Every glowing strand is something you’re carrying.
A decision that can’t wait.
A conversation you keep replaying.
The employee who needs your guidance.
The child who needs your attention.
The parent you’re quietly worried about.
Tomorrow’s meeting, before today is even over.
The emotional temperature of everyone around you.
The million invisible calculations no one else ever sees.
And then someone asks,
“What are you so stressed about?”
The truth is,
It’s not one thing.
It’s everything.
The women I work with rarely say,
“I’m stressed.”
They say,
“I can’t shut my brain off.”
“I’m exhausted, even when I sleep.”
“I feel like I’m responsible for everything.”
That’s what an overloaded nervous system can feel like.
Therapy isn’t about doing more. It’s about carrying less. 🤍
