Which style have you noticed most often?

A quick guide to memorial styles:
- UPRIGHT
The traditional style most people picture when they think of a headstone.
- SLANT
Similar to an upright memorial, with the back sitting higher than the front.
- BENCH
A place to sit and remember. In some designs, the granite bench itself serves as the memorial.
- WING
Two upright tablets joined by a central base, commonly selected for couples.

You probably know the Gorsline name from funeral service. But did you know there was once a Gorsline Bros. Auto Co. in Williamston?

By 1916, brothers Claude and W. Ray Gorsline were doing more than working alongside their father, Floyd, in the family's furniture and undertaking business. The Gorsline name could also be found on a Williamston garage offering automobile repairs, Ford parts, gasoline, oils, tires and accessories.

A 1916–1921 Ingham County business directory lists both businesses separately: “Gorsline Brothers Auto Co., Garage and Auto Supplies” and “Gorsline, F.A., & Sons, Furniture and Undertakers.”

It's a fascinating glimpse into an era when the automobile was rapidly changing American life and the Gorsline brothers were building their own place in Williamston's business community.

More than a century later, we're still discovering pieces of our Williamston story, and we look forward to sharing more of them with you.
