Wonder what the studies would show for patient outcomes of FEMALE PHYSICIAN lead DPC practices vs traditional primary care practices.🤔 We have a pretty good idea 😁❤️👩🏻‍⚕️🩺

A study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine found that women treated by women doctors were less likely to die or be readmitted to the hospital than women treated by men. Researchers estimated that closing that gap could save 5,000 women’s lives every year.

Why the difference? Research suggests women doctors may spend more time with patients, communicate differently and be less likely to dismiss women’s symptoms and pain.

That matters in a medical system where women’s pain has historically been taken less seriously, contributing to delayed diagnoses and treatment. And these disparities can be even greater for women of color, particularly Black women, who continue to face disproportionately high rates of maternal mortality.

Who treats us shouldn’t determine how seriously we’re taken. Speak up, ask questions and advocate for yourself and the women around you.

We have the best staff! Samantha and Elisa helped one of our 3rd year osteopathic medical students, Meredith, place her first IV 🤗. She’s having a great time on her first rotation of her 3rd year. Thank you to all our awesome patients for allowing them to participate in your care. They’re learning so much about Direct Primary Care and the amazing access to care this model provides.

Today we officially welcomed our newest member of the Healthy Self team, Elisa Walsh! Elisa brings with her 10 years of pediatric ER experience as an RN, and has just completed her education as a Family Nurse Practitioner. After passing her licensing exam she will be our first new provider hire!
