“I’m already doing everything my eye doctor recommended… is there anything else I can do?”

If you’ve been diagnosed with macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, or another chronic vision concern, you may have found yourself asking that question.

And I understand why.

When your vision changes, you don’t want to just wait and wonder what comes next. You want to understand your options and find ways to support your eyes while continuing the care you already receive.

That’s where ACUNOVA comes in.

ACUNOVA is a specialized acupuncture approach that focuses on supporting visual health and function. It’s used as complementary care, alongside, not instead of your ophthalmologist’s treatment.

Is it right for everyone? No.
Can anyone promise it will restore your vision? No.

But if you’re curious whether it may be appropriate for your situation, that’s exactly what a consultation is for.

You don’t have to figure that out on your own.

👁 If you’re in Mineola or Long Island and want to learn more about ACUNOVA, book a consultation with Kimura Acupuncture.

Your first step can simply be a conversation.

“My eye doctor is taking care of it… but is there anything else I can do?” 👁️

I hear this from people who are worried about their vision and simply want more options.

If you’re dealing with macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, retinitis pigmentosa, or other vision concerns, you may be curious about acupuncture as an additional form of support.

That’s where ACUNOVA comes in. 🌿

It’s a specialized acupuncture approach focused on supporting visual health and function.

And yes, if you’re wondering, the needles are never placed in your eyes. 👀

ACUNOVA is complementary care, not a replacement for your eye doctor or prescribed treatment.

If you’re in Mineola, Long Island, and you’ve been searching for another way to support your eye health, let’s talk. 🤍

One of the things I appreciate most about Chinese Medicine is that it asks us to slow down.

Not because slowing down is always easy—but because that’s often when we finally notice what our body has been trying to tell us.

So many of us have learned to ignore the little things.

The poor sleep.

The bloating after every meal.

The headaches that keep coming back.

The stress we carry in our shoulders.

The exhaustion we brush off as “just being busy.”

Chinese Medicine has always looked at those moments differently.

Instead of asking, “How do I get rid of this symptom?”

It asks, “Why is your body sending this message?”

That shift in perspective changes everything.

It reminds us that health isn’t only about treating illness—it’s also about paying attention before illness has the chance to grow.

Those small choices we make every day… how we eat, rest, move, and care for ourselves… matter more than we often realize.

Have you ever wondered why you and your best friend can eat the same thing, sleep the same amount, and somehow have completely different bodies? 😂

One person is always freezing.

Another is throwing the blanket off at night.

One gets bloated from everything.

Another can eat whatever they want and feel fine.

One person gets completely wiped out by stress.

Another seems to bounce right back.

In Chinese Medicine, we call these long-term tendencies your constitution.

It’s one of the reasons I don’t love giving everyone the same advice.

What works beautifully for one person may not be what another person needs.

And your constitution isn’t a life sentence, either. Your body changes with stress, lifestyle, environment, age, and different stages of life.

This becomes especially interesting for women during perimenopause and menopause, when the things your body has always done can suddenly start changing.

So if you’ve ever thought, “Why am I like this?” 😂

There may be more to the story.

And that’s exactly what makes getting to know your own patterns so helpful.

Which one sounded most like you?

Some of the best things I learned in Chinese Medicine weren’t complicated at all.

They were the little things.

Eat something warm.
Keep your feet and lower back warm.
Go for a walk when you’re frustrated.
Don’t skip meals when you’re already exhausted.
Rest before your body forces you to.

At the time, they just sounded like things my family always said. 😂

But after becoming an acupuncturist, I started seeing the reasoning behind many of those habits.

And now I find myself saying the same things to my patients.

Because wellness doesn’t always have to mean adding another supplement, buying another product, or completely changing your life.

Sometimes it’s going back to the basics and giving your body a little more of what it needs.

Of course, these habits aren’t a replacement for medical care. If you’re dealing with persistent headaches, dizziness, swelling, or other concerning symptoms, please get them properly evaluated.

But for everyday self-care?

Start small.

Your body notices consistency. 🤍

One of my favorite moments is when a patient sits up after their first treatment and says,

“I can’t explain it… I just feel different.”

That’s because acupuncture isn’t simply about placing needles where something hurts.

Every treatment starts a conversation with your nervous system.

As your body begins to relax, it also starts doing what it was designed to do: regulate, repair, and restore.

This is why many people come in for one concern—like neck pain or migraines—but also notice they’re sleeping better, feeling less stressed, or moving more comfortably.

Healing rarely happens because of one thing.

It’s the result of many systems working together.

That’s exactly what acupuncture aims to support.

Some of the biggest lessons I learned in acupuncture school had nothing to do with needles.

They changed the way I look at everyday symptoms.

Instead of asking, “How do we get rid of this symptom?” we ask, “Why is your body sending this message in the first place?”

That’s why I don’t just ask about your pain.

I ask how you’re sleeping.

How you’re digesting your meals.

What your energy is like.

How stressed you’ve been lately.

Because everything is connected.

The goal isn’t to chase symptoms—it’s to understand the patterns behind them and support your body as a whole.

One of the questions I hear all the time is,

“But what is the needle actually doing?”

The simple answer?

It’s starting a conversation with your nervous system.

Acupuncture doesn’t “fix” your body.

Your body already knows how to heal.

What acupuncture does is provide a gentle stimulus that encourages your body to regulate itself more effectively.

That’s why people often notice more than just pain relief.

They tell me they’re sleeping better.

Their shoulders don’t feel as tight.

Their digestion settles.

They feel calmer.

Their headaches become less frequent.

Their body finally feels like it can exhale.

Healing isn’t about forcing your body to do something it wasn’t designed to do.

Sometimes it’s about removing the barriers that have been keeping it stuck.

Whether you’re looking for support with chronic pain, migraines, stress, women’s health, fertility, or perimenopause, acupuncture works by supporting the systems that help your body do what it was designed to do.

07/15/2026

One of the biggest misconceptions about acupuncture is that it’s just about pain relief.

Yes, many people come in because something hurts.

But what keeps them coming back is noticing everything else that starts to improve.

They’re sleeping through the night again.

Their body feels less tense.

Their stress feels more manageable.

Their digestion settles.

They have more energy to get through the day.

That’s because acupuncture isn’t just focused on one symptom.

It’s designed to support the systems that help your body heal, regulate, and recover.

Healing doesn’t always happen overnight, and it rarely looks like flipping a switch.

Sometimes it looks like waking up with a little more energy.

Sometimes it’s realizing you haven’t had a headache all week.

Sometimes it’s feeling like yourself again after months of not recognizing your own body.

That’s the kind of progress I love seeing.
