Ronald Wayne Fredrick

Ronald W. Fredrick, age 83, of Belgrade and Atwater, passed away Sunday, June 7th, at Crest View Senior Living in Blaine.

A public visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17th, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Union Cemetery in Atwater. www.petersonbrothers.com

Ronald Wayne Fredrick was born June 28, 1942, in Belgrade, MN, and led a life based on his terms. After graduation from Atwater High School in 1960 Ron joined the Navy where he proudly served for four years on the destroyer USS Perry. After his service he worked for Unisys and the United States Postal Service, while simultaneously keeping his hands on old cars and building projects as part of his business interests. He lost his first partner in life, Alice, far too soon to Multiple Sclerosis. He subsequently met Shirley Kise of Atwater, MN, in 1995, and together the two made a fun life for themselves travelling the country in a pickup as inseparable partners until her passing in 2022. They enjoyed snow birding in Texas and Florida for many years but always returned to their hobby farm in Atwater to enjoy quiet summers with their horses. While Ron never had children of his own, Shirley’s kids, Sue, Bob, Melanie, and Brad came to love and appreciate Ron for his kindness, infectious laughter, and his blanket offer to partake in a beer with him every time they visited.

Ron is survived by his brother, Leroy Fredrick of Minneapolis.
