If you, or you know someone that's elderly that struggles with these high temps, here are some quick tips you can do to help stay cool. Also, if you know someone who is vulnerable to heat, maybe stop in and check on them. Give them a call to make sure they are ok.

Hydrate continuously: Drink water consistently throughout the day, avoiding excessive caffeine and alcohol, which can cause dehydration.

Cool your pulse points: Apply cold, wet cloths or ice packs to your neck, wrists, armpits, and groin where blood vessels are close to the surface to lower your core temperature quickly.

Dress appropriately: Wear loose-fitting, lightweight, and light-colored clothing made of breathable natural fabrics like cotton or linen.

Utilize evaporation: Lightly mist yourself with water or wear a damp bandana around your neck to take advantage of natural cooling.

Block the sun: Keep curtains and blinds closed during the sunniest parts of the day to prevent your home from heating up.

Ventilate strategically: When it is cooler outside (such as at night), open windows on opposite sides of your home to create a cross-breeze.

Limit heat-generating chores: Avoid using your stove, oven, or dryer during peak heat hours.

Sara snapped these as she was walking up to the office door. We're not exactly sure what kind of bird this is, although we have our guesses. We think its a young Hawk, but Hawks aren't usually this docile around people. And they usually don't get this close to a house .
So what is your guess?

Its a hot one! Hopefully you're all finding ways to stay cool today!

Say hello to our resident Felines!
They had a long journey before becoming permanent Compassionate Care resident cats.
Their humble beginnings start out in the middle of the cornfields near Clara City. As with many young kitties, they felt trapped and wanted to be free and to discover themselves. So they said their goodbyes and moved to the big city of Denver, Colorado. After getting their fill of careless living, they soon realized the thin air of Denver was too much. So they headed for the fresh air and cornfields that surround Omaha. There they find themselves having to share housing with another cat. Instantly, tensions are high with the new roommate and things get a little hairy. Realizing there's no better option but to part ways. So they bought one way tickets to Willmar and found themselves at the doorsteps of Compassionate Care.
To hear more of their story. Stop by and say hi. They love belly rubs and head scratches.
