"Just communicate your needs."
Cool.
Except a lot of us grew up in families where having needs was treated like a problem.
So we learned to stay quiet.
Stay easy.
Stay low maintenance.
Stay grateful.
Stay convenient.
Then we become adults and everyone tells us to communicate better.
The problem isn't that you don't know how to communicate.
The problem is that you've learned that speaking up often comes with guilt, conflict, criticism, or rejection.
If setting boundaries feels terrifying, if advocating for yourself makes you anxious, or if you constantly worry about disappointing people, you may not have a communication problem.
You may have a safety problem.
Healing isn't learning how to talk.
It's learning that you're allowed to take up space.
