For years, I thought drugs and alcohol were the problem.
So I fought them.
I tried to stop. Tried to control it. Tried different ways, different places, different promises.
And I kept losing.
Because I was fighting the wrong opponent.
Drugs and alcohol weren't the problem. They were my solution to a much deeper problem-and until I understood that, nothing was ever going to change.
Eventually, the pain became unbearable enough that I was willing to do something I had never done before:
Give my addiction the time, attention, and most importantly, the respect it deserved.
The thing I thought was bringing me to my knees ended up putting me in the exact position I needed to finally save my life.
