What makes LifeCare different?

In this edition of our LifeCare Voices series, we hear from Alex Miller, one of our hospice chaplains, as he shares what he loves most about working here.

Hospice care is a team effort. Nurses, CNAs, social workers, chaplains, physicians, volunteers, and many others work together to care for the whole person while supporting the family every step of the way.

If you're looking for a career where compassion and teamwork come together, we'd love to hear from you.

We're currently hiring social workers in New Hanover, Pender, and Horry counties, as well as several other clinical and professional positions across our service area. Give your passion a purpose.

A heartfelt thank you to the 'Busy Bee-lievers' sewing team from Andrews Chapel Global Methodist Church for donating handmade pillowcases to the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, including both patriotic and everyday designs.

Each pillowcase is an act of kindness that helps make our care center feel a little more like home for patients and families.

We're grateful to Shirley Knight, Sharon Wert, Trish Ackerman, and the entire sewing team for their generosity, prayers, and support. Community partners like you help bring comfort in so many meaningful ways!

Today, we honor the brave soldiers who served during the Korean War as we observe National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day, marking 73 years since the signing of the armistice.

We are deeply grateful for the sacrifices of Korean War veterans and their families. It is our privilege to care for veterans in our communities, and we remain committed to honoring their service with the dignity and respect they have more than earned.

Thank you for your service. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Some people lead by example, and others inspire an entire team to serve.

Recently, Lower Cape Fear LifeCare recognized volunteer Mike Hamby for his extraordinary leadership of the New Hanover White Shirt pinning team. Over the past three years, Mike has personally participated in more than 440 veteran pinning ceremonies and helped grow the team from 0 volunteers to 31 dedicated members!

Although Mike has recently stepped back from leading the program, his impact will continue to be felt through every volunteer he has encouraged and every veteran whose service has been honored.

More than 10 fellow White Shirts were there to celebrate Mike and thank him for his dedication, leadership, and heart. Congratulations, Mike, and thank you for helping us honor those who have served our country. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ’™

Supporting those who dedicate their lives to protecting others.

Lower Cape Fear LifeCare was honored to support the recent fundraiser benefiting the Donayre Cancer Center for Firefighter Cancer Awareness.

Firefighters face an increased risk of occupational cancer due to repeated exposure to hazardous materials, making awareness, education, and support more important than ever.

Raising awareness, supporting education, and standing with firefighters and their families are important ways we can give back to those who have given so much to our communities. We are grateful to work alongside organizations that share a passion for caring for others!
