Ever wonder what EMDR stands for?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

It is an evidence based therapy that helps the brain and body process painful memories so they feel less activating in the present.

Rather than staying stuck in old patterns or emotional responses, EMDR can help create more space for healing and forward movement.

LMV Counseling has several therapists trained in EMDR who support clients navigating trauma and difficult life experiences.

What is something you wish more people understood about healing?

Healing is not always visible.

Sometimes it looks like setting boundaries. Sometimes it looks like grieving, resting, starting over, or choosing different patterns even when it feels uncomfortable.

It is rarely quick, linear, or neat.

Share your answer below. This is a conversation more people need to hear.

In Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, your mindset (“set”) and environment (“setting”) can shape your experience and support deeper healing. How you feel going into a session, the intentions you bring, and the space you are in all play an important role in the therapeutic process.

Creating a calm, supportive environment helps you feel safer exploring emotions, patterns, and insights that may come up during treatment. Preparation is not just part of the process, it is part of what makes the work meaningful.

You do not have to shrink yourself to feel accepted.

Pride Month can bring up a lot. Pride, yes, but also vulnerability, fear, or the weight of past experiences where it didn’t feel safe to be fully seen.

There is nothing wrong with you for wanting a space where you can just be.

Therapy can be that space. A place where your identity is respected, your story matters, and you don’t have to edit yourself to belong.

This month, and every month, we stand with the LGBTQ+ community with care, respect, and compassion.

Feeling anxious or overwhelmed? Take a moment to pause and take a breath.

Mallory, an LCSW, shares a simple grounding technique that can help bring you back to the present moment.

It’s called the 5 4 3 2 1 method. When anxiety starts to build, gently look around and notice:

5 things you can see
4 things you can feel
3 things you can hear
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste

This practice can help shift your focus out of racing thoughts and back into your body, creating a sense of steadiness in the moment.

You can come back to this anytime you need a reset.
Save this for later, or share it with someone who might need it too.

Going somewhere new can feel a little scary, especially when it matters. Even taking the first step through the door can come with a lot of unknowns.

We hope this small glimpse into the walk to our office helps things feel a bit more familiar before you arrive. Sometimes knowing what to expect, even just a little, can make it easier to get started.

Our goal is to create a space that feels calm, welcoming, and safe from the moment you walk in. You do not have to have everything figured out before you come. You can take it one step at a time.

We are here to meet you where you are.

Feeling frustrated when your healing feels like two steps forward and one step back?

That is often how it goes. Healing is not linear, and part of the process is learning how to stay with it, even when it feels uneven.

In ketamine assisted psychotherapy, we are not looking for instant change. We are paying attention to the small moments of insight along the way. Those moments can gently build into something more meaningful over time.

This work is supported through three phases. Preparation, where we build trust and set intentions. Dosing, where you are supported in a safe and steady environment. And integration, where we begin to make sense of what came up and bring it into your daily life.

Relief does not always happen all at once. It often builds gradually, session by session.

You do not have to have everything figured out. You just have to be open to taking the next step ✨

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy services are provided through our sister company, Go Inward (), and are not administered through LMV Counseling or covered by insurance.
