"The first day I hiked to that waterfall, I thought that was the main attraction. My host told me later that if I swam into that pool of water there (yes, by myself, into a pool of water that I have no idea what lives there) and swam into the canyon behind it (yes, swim into a narrow canyon, again, all alone) there was an epic waterfall that was even taller. I went back on day 3 to try again and I know it sounds dumb, but I battled with myself for at least a half hour before I got up the courage to swim in there and see it for myself. It was a glorious moment of overcoming my fears!" -- Dr. Ferguson on a recent solo trip to the jungle of Utando, Puerto Rico.
