When was the last time you thought about your diaphragm? Ancient cultures that studied self-cultivation arts like yoga and qi gong paid great attention to the working of the diaphragm, and for good reason. No muscle singularly exerts more control over breathing than the diaphragm, and the Chinese noted several thousand years ago that the ability of the diaphragm to move efficiently exerted great influence on not only the body’s ability to move its breath, but its energy and blood throughout. Proper breathing nourishes our well-being by making sure that blood and oxygen get to their intended cellular targets to keep us well-lubricated and pain-free.
Making sure your diaphragm is healthy with proper stretching, exercise, and, in some cases, acupuncture, can benefit your body in a vast multitude of ways.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend Pam King in the early morning hours of April 25th.

For 35 years Pam served her community as a massage therapist, and we had the honor of having her at McKay Healing Arts for 20 of those years. Those who experienced her massages know she was truly gifted with healing hands. She was deeply loved not only by her clients, but also by all of us who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Pam was dedicated to her faith, and her church, and the community within it. Her church, St. Basil Orthodox Church, will hold a service to honor and celebrate her life on Friday, May 1st at 5:00 p.m. located at 4601 Blue Clay Rd., Castle Hayne, NC

In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with final expenses and to honor Pam’s memory can be made at the church website: www.wilmingtonoca.org. Call us at 910-791-1981 if you have any questions.

We miss her already and will honor her by continuing to care for others as she so beautifully did.
