Last year at Music from the Heart, many of you had the opportunity to hear from Natacha, one of the incredible young people connected to ABC. Her courage, insight, and authenticity left a lasting impression on everyone in the room.

Today, we’re excited to share some wonderful news: she is now a published author! 📖

Recently, she celebrated her book launch with a signing event at her school, surrounded by classmates, teachers, friends, and supporters. Seeing her confidence and pride as she shared her work with others was a joyful reminder of the potential that exists within every child.

Find her book on Amazon, “All Families Are Unique” by Natacha Marie Malave.

New Workshop!
Becoming an Ally for LGBTQ+ Youth with Special Guest Kyle Teller, PHD, of The Trevor Project
JUNE 16th @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
via Zoom

Many LGBTQ+ youth report feeling ignored or discounted when their foster and adoptive parents or other caretakers are unable to talk about gender and sexual identity issues. LGBTQ+ youth who are struggling with self-identification often aren’t able to explain their sexual orientation, because they themselves are in the process of learning who they are. Because LGBTQ+ youth are overrepresented in the foster care system, many of our kids may be at a higher risk for mental health disorders and thoughts of self-harm or su***de if they have no one they feel they can talk to. As caregivers, it’s our responsibility to educate ourselves about sexual/gender orientation and how to support the youth we care for. The Ally Training is designed to create dialogue around being an adult ally for LGBTQ+ young people by informing participants about common terminology, the “coming out” process, and challenges at home, in school, and the community. This training welcomes all to learn how to support LGBTQ+ young people, no matter your starting point..

For 15 years, ABC has walked alongside children and families impacted by foster care and adoption, helping them find stability, connection, healing, and hope.

As we celebrate this milestone year, and 30 years of mission, we’re launching

15>> Forward, a monthly giving campaign built on one simple idea: Small monthly gifts help families move forward >>.

This June, we’re inviting our community to become monthly donors with a gift of:

• $15/month in honor of 15 years of ABC

• $30/month in celebration of 30 years of mission

Monthly giving provides the steady, reliable support that helps us respond to the real needs of children and families every day, the needs that often fall outside of state funding and contracts.

A recurring gift may seem small, but over time it helps create life-changing impact for families navigating foster care, adoption, trauma, and healing.

Will you help move families forward?

Our upstate CAPS (Connections for Adoption and Permanency Supports) group meets in person and virtually THIS FRIDAY at our Wilmington location from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.!

This is a great time to connect with other parents who understand your experiences, celebrate wins, or just to say hello and listen if sharing happens to be difficult right now. The simple act of sharing space with other parents who get it may be just what you need.

☎️Call Amanda at 302-746-7343 to RSVP! Dinner and childcare (ages 2+) are included!

Jasmine works at our Milford RNR program and creates a ton of social media content for us (you’ve seen the reels!). We are super lucky to have her and her mom, Pam, a Child and Family Specialist on our team.

Swipe to see them together. 💙

At Rec & Respite, it’s more than just a day of fun,  it’s a place where friendships grow, connections are built, and kids are reminded that they are never alone. 🩵

While parents and caregivers take a well-deserved break, our kids spend the day laughing, playing, creating memories, and building relationships with peers who understand and support one another. These moments of connection are what make our Rec & Respite program so special. ✨
