Sometimes what looks like “acting out” is really a child trying to be understood.
When big feelings take over, words can disappear. The nervous system moves faster than language, and the body steps in to express what can’t yet be said.
Emotional safety makes space for words to come back online, little by little.
It’s not that they’re choosing actions over words. It’s that they’re still learning how to find their way to words.
And this learning happens best through connection and instruction, not punishment.
