☀️ Meet Savannah! ☀️

We’re so excited to welcome Savannah as our new Intake Coordinator at Hope Rises!

Savannah recently moved to Wilmington, is pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and has a heart for helping people feel seen, known, and supported. She’ll often be one of the first friendly faces you connect with when reaching out to our practice.

We’re so thankful the Lord brought her to our team and can’t wait for you to get to know her.

If you’ve ever thought, “I want to start therapy, but I have no idea what to expect...” this post is for you.

The first session isn’t about having all the answers or sharing your entire life story. It’s about getting comfortable, building trust, and taking the first step toward support.

Exciting news! 🎉

After much anticipation, our building permits have officially been approved, and renovations are scheduled to begin June 15th and continue through June 26th.

Most sessions will be held virtually however, please contact your therapist directly to discuss your sessions booked for this time!

We are incredibly grateful for your patience, flexibility, and support throughout this process. We know changes like these can be an inconvenience, and we appreciate your willingness to navigate them with us.

We’re looking forward to creating an even more welcoming environment for our clients and can’t wait to share the finished space with you soon. Thank you for being part of our community! 🤍

This year wasn’t measured by appointments, milestones, or numbers.

It was measured in moments.

Moments of courage.
Moments of vulnerability.
Moments of breakthrough.
Moments of healing.
Moments of hope.

What an honor it has been to witness the resilience of our clients and serve this community for the past year.

Thank you for helping make Hope Rises Counseling what it is today. We are so grateful to be here and cannot wait for the year ahead 🤍

A little renovation update from Hope Rises ⬇️

While our renovations didn’t happen quite on the timeline we expected due to city permit delays outside of our control, we are so excited to officially reopen the office for in-person sessions this week!!

Although this process has been stressful behind the scenes, we’re incredibly grateful for the patience, flexibility, and kindness our clients and community have shown us through it all. We truly believe God has a plan in every season, even the unexpected ones.

For now, we’ve moved everything back in and will revisit renovations later this summer once we have a clearer timeline. We’ll continue to keep everyone updated along the way!

Thank you all for supporting Hope Rises Counseling this past year. We can’t wait to see everyone back in the office 🤍

Whether you’re battling anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, grief, or just feeling overwhelmed by life lately, we hope these verses remind you of one important thing:
God is not distant from your pain.

Scripture isn’t meant to shame people for struggling. It’s meant to comfort, anchor, and remind us we are not alone in the middle of it.

Save this post for the hard days, send it to someone who may need encouragement, and remember struggling does not make your faith weak, and seeking support does not make your faith any less real.

A lot of men grow up being told that they just need to “push through it.”

So high-functioning anxiety gets normalized. Stress gets brushed off. Anger gets excused as “just being under pressure.”
Emotional shutdown becomes the default.

But eventually… it starts affecting more than just you.

Your relationships.
Your marriage.
Your parenting.
Your sleep.
Your career.
Your ability to actually feel present and at peace.

Therapy isn’t about becoming someone else. It’s about understanding yourself better and learning healthier ways to carry the weight you’ve been holding alone.

And for a lot of men, working with another male therapist can make a huge difference.

If you’ve been thinking therapy “isn’t for you,” maybe you just haven’t found the right space yet. Don’t give up on the search because we have THE PERFECT therapist for you!

THE SECRET TO A FULL NIGHT’S SLEEP ⬇️

Therapy.

Okay maybe not always but why is it that the second your head hits the pillow, your brain decides it’s time to investigate every embarrassing moment you’ve ever had? 🫠

That’s rumination- replaying, overthinking, and trying to “figure it out” long after it’s over.

Plot twist: it doesn’t actually help. It just strengthens the anxiety by pulling you into a cycle: thought → overthinking → more anxiety → even more overthinking (on repeat 🔁)

Therapy helps you step out of that loop. You learn how to notice the thought without chasing it and finally experience a little peace… and some actual sleep 😅

As a child therapist and a mom, I see this all the time. Questions like, “Are you sure?” “What if…?” “But really, are you sure?”

It’s so tempting to jump in with reassurance and in the moment, it does help. But over time, it actually keeps the anxiety cycle going.

The goal isn’t to give them more certainty. It’s to help them build confidence in handling uncertainty. 🤍
