The Two Paths: Fear vs. Faith
1. The Path of Fear
Fear says:
* “Something is wrong with me.”
* “My body is failing me.”
* “I have to control everything.”
* “What if this gets worse?”
* “I need to find a quick fix.”
* “I can’t trust what my body is telling me.”
Fear can keep us in a constant state of hypervigilance—searching, worrying, reacting, and sometimes making choices from panic rather than wisdom.
2. The Path of Faith
Faith says:
* “My body was wonderfully designed.”
* “I don’t have to understand everything to care for myself wisely.”
* “I can listen to my body without becoming ruled by fear.”
* “I can give my body nourishment, rest, movement, hydration, and appropriate support.”
* “I can seek wise counsel when I need it.”
* “I can trust YHVH while still taking responsible action.”
Faith isn’t ignoring symptoms. Faith is refusing to let fear become your master.
Where Healing Fits In
Our bodies are constantly working to maintain balance and repair themselves. We don’t make the body heal—we create conditions that can support its natural processes.
Think about a wound. We don’t command the skin to close. We clean it, protect it, nourish ourselves, and give the body time. Then the body’s incredible repair mechanisms do what they were designed to do.
The same principle can shape our approach to wellness:
Nourish → Support → Rest → Listen → Respond → Trust.
The Heart of the Message
Ultimately, the choice isn’t:
“Do I trust my body OR do I trust YHVH?”
It can be:
“I trust the Creator, and I honor the body He gave me by caring for it wisely.”
Psalm 139:14 reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
So perhaps the real question isn’t, “Am I afraid of what my body is doing?”
It’s:
“Am I willing to slow down, listen, learn, support my body, seek wisdom, and trust YHVH through the process?”
That’s a much healthier definition of faith: not pretending nothing is wrong, but refusing to let fear have the final word.
