If I ask most men who they would call at 2am when everything falls apart β the room goes quiet. π
In fifteen years of working with men that pause tells me more than anything else they say.
The data behind it:
π 15% of men report having zero close friends β up 500% since 1990
π 25% of US men say they do not have a close friend at all
π The WHO links loneliness to 871,000 deaths globally every year β not just su***de, all-cause mortality
π 80% of all su***de deaths in the US are men
Men are not lonely because they are broken. They are lonely because every structure that used to host male friendship β school, teams, stable careers β has been dismantled. And nobody built a replacement.
Text one person today. Not a check-in. Not a meme. Something real:
π¬ "Hey β I've been thinking. We don't actually talk anymore. I miss that."
That is not weakness. That is the most clinically protective thing you can do for your mental health this week.
πΎ Save this β and send that text before you go to sleep tonight.
