Knowing what to look for makes all the difference. 💜

This World Alzheimers Day, we’re opening the door to early detection. Memory changes can be subtle, but recognizing early signs empowers families to seek timely guidance, explore treatment options, and build a proactive care plan.

This National Wellness Month, our physical and occupational therapists recommend incorporating these foundational habits into your routine:

Prioritize Balance First: Practice standing on one foot while holding onto a sturdy counter, or do gentle heel-to-toe walks to build lower body stability and prevent falls. 🚶‍♂️✨

Keep Your Home Safe: Remove loose rugs, clear cluttered pathways, and ensure hallways are brightly lit to make navigating your space stress-free. 🏡🛡️

Hydrate for Muscle Health: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your joints lubricated, prevent cramping, and maintain your energy levels. 💧☀️

True wellness isn’t just about fitness—it’s about functional health that keeps you moving safely through your daily life. 🌿

On July 21st, we celebrated the Dog Days of Summer alongside our wonderful friends at the CT Humane Society ()! It was a day filled with joy, furry visits, and a shared passion for supporting our local animal rescue community. Having four-legged friends visit our campus reminded us of the incredible, therapeutic power that animals bring to senior living and recovery.

Here are a few ways pet companionship supports healthy aging:

🧠 Boosts Mental Health: Interacting with animals reduces stress hormones (like cortisol) while releasing calming endorphins
❤️ Promotes Cardiovascular Health: Cuddling, petting, or walking with a dog helps lower resting blood pressure and reduce heart rate.
☀️ Provides Purpose & Routine: Caring for or engaging with a pet creates a sense of daily fulfillment, giving seniors a reason to smile.

A huge thank you to the CT Humane Society () for visiting us, sharing their mission, and bringing so much happiness to our residents and rehab patients! 💙
