I provide one-on-one care.My goal for each and every patient is to reduce or eliminate your pain and improve your ability to function so that you can return to the activities that ma

tter to you. An important part of your rehab will include education on self-care strategies for long term management and prevention. I currently balance my practice between traditional orthopedics and pelvic floor conditions. I am just as comfortable and happy to treat you for spinal pain, shoulder problems, difficulty walking, post surgical rehab or deconditioning. Although I have chosen to specialize in what is traditionally referred to as “women's health” physical therapy, countless men struggle silently with significant urological and colorectal conditions as well. And though the general public may not be aware of physical therapy's role in this region, there is a constantly growing database of research proving the effectiveness of physical therapy. I look forward to your call and the opportunity to speak with you, whether it's to schedule an appointment or to answer any questions you might have.

Vaginal estrogen is shown to be safe. You deserve appropriate, evidence based information. And your quality of life matters!

A doctor told my friend that vaginal estradiol would shrink her husband’s p***s. She almost didn’t fill the prescription because of it.

Let’s clear this up. Vaginal estrogen cream is a 0.01% dose. Used correctly, it does not meaningfully raise blood estrogen levels. Meanwhile the average man’s own estrogen level is already higher than what the cream could add. His p***s was never at risk. Her quality of life was.

This is what happens when one offhand comment from a provider carries more weight than the actual biology. Women talk themselves out of treatment that could change their lives because someone with a white coat said something scary and confident.

You are not broken. You were misinformed.

This is a really great article that shares very good information about the value of pelvic floor physical therapy and the positive impact it can have on your ability to do all the things you want to do without bladder control worries. Don’t hesitate, it might be uncomfortable to discuss these issues, but there is help available.

Weakness in this part of the body becomes increasingly common with age, causing urinary incontinence and other symptoms. But it’s also treatable.

“Depend:Supporting incontinence recovery”? Would be a brilliant messaging rebrand. Incontinence is common, but shouldn’t be accepted as normal. Physical therapy can help you recover better control and confidence.

Caught this in a ad this week. Encouraging women to ignore “little leaks” and not let them distract you from life’s moments. It continues to use marketing to frame incontinence as normal, and managing it with a pad, vs treating, it as the acceptable path. Incontinence is a signal that your system of muscles and pressures that control continence (and create control at your center) are out of balance. Reminded me of a blog I wrote too long ago now (in 2014), about a previous ad campaign that offered similar messages. Here is an excerpt: “There are many that choose absorption products because they do not understand that they have options, treatments exist, and they don’t have to “embrace” incontinence. They could actually be free of it.

If you are truly in the business of empowering women and giving them confidence, in addition to absorptive undergarments and pads, consider offering a product that would actually address the incontinence not just hide it, manage it, or embrace it. You could launch a very different ad campaign that went more like this: “We’ve got you covered until you learn to control the leaks”. Your new tagline could be “Depend: Supporting incontinence recovery”. This is a different message indeed: confidence that recovery is possible.” You can read the full blog here:

And the response from here. Poise never responded.

There is a similar the message inside the culture of ….leaks are normal at high loads, get used to it as you push towards new PRs vs this is a signal that your system of muscles and pressures that control continence (and create control at your center and ultimately create power under the bar, stability for gymnastics, and agility for plyos) are out of balance and treatable. We can help.
Be confident that recovery is possible.

This is so true! I love nothing more than to hear my patient’s success stories! When you walk in and share what you were able to do that you couldn’t before, it is party dance time! And it is a privilege to walk along side you and help guide your healing process.

Another positive change in women’s health. A new term that better describes a much more complex system health issue! More awareness. Better understanding! Hopefully will also mean better treatment too!

Experts say the updated name aims to improve diagnosis, reduce stigma and better reflect the condition's full impact on the body.

There are known effects of a condition that all women go through. Menopause. It affects all women differently. And all women may not need help to manage the symptoms of menopause. But what we do deserve as women is knowledge about what our bodies go through during this major life transition. Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause, increased risk of heart disease, increased risk of osteoporosis, increased risk of mood changes such as depression and anxiety that one might not have experienced before this time, significant sleep disruptions! These can be helped by a thoughtful discussion with your menopause specialist (gynecologist usually) to explore the options that can best meet your needs and help you feel more like you again. And of course contact a women’s health PT for help too.

The word is getting out due to the hard work of some great doctors who care about changing the narrative that women should not suffer through the “normal” effects of menopause. Menopause might be normal, but the consequences deserve compassionate care and treatment. Talk to your doctor AND call to get started with a women’s health PT.
