One of the biggest lessons we can allow tai chi and qigong to teach us is the importance and beauty of slowing down, and looking inward.
As a society, we often get so caught up in MORE - learning more, doing more, experiencing more, feeling more, even traveling more - that we don't often allow the lessons we're hoping to gain from our personal practices to actualize and internalize - instead, we scratch the surface, and want to move on to the next in pursuit of the elusive MORE.
But what if...
☯️ You slowed down enough to FEEL? (yeah, that's going to make some of you real uncomfortable at first...)
☯️ You decided to practice the pause - and got in touch with your breath? (And your lungs, and the metal element, and you learned how to actually LET GO of the discomfort and grief you've been carrying for so long??)
☯️ You learned to LISTEN TO YOUR BODY, because you actually gave it a chance to answer, and your brain the opportunity to quantify the response?
☯️ What if you learned how your body WORKS TOGETHER, because you were moving slowly enough for it to actually do so?
☯️ What if, instead of chasing MORE, you went DEEPER into the practices you know and use to support yourself?
That, my dear friends, is where the magic can happen. ✨ When we slow down, when we deepen into our practices, when we allow the body an opportunity to unify - we begin to listen. And then we begin to honor our own needs - for movement, fresh air and sunlight, clean foods, good friends and laughter, for rest and balance.
And that is where we can finally - finally - begin to make lasting changes, and to heal from the generations of trauma and ill-conceived lessons that is our (current) collective heritage.
You're worth slowing down for - I promise. I hope you learn to believe and trust that important fact. 🙏☯️❤️🧘
