🐦 A Little Joy Takes Flight 🐦

Windber Hospice has begun distributing handcrafted bird feeders made by students at Windber Area High School to hospice patients.

The first delivery went to Moonyene, who enjoys bird watching with her husband and keeps a daily log of the birds that visit their yard. Hospice volunteer Michael Quinn delivered the bird feeder along with a bag of bird seed.

We hope this special gift brings many hours of enjoyment. Thank you to the Windber students and our volunteers for helping create meaningful moments for the patients and families we serve. 💙

Our team was proud to participate in the Spring Safety Community Resource Event hosted by A Parent’s Promise this May at the Conemaugh Township Middle/High School Football Field. 💙

Staff from our Davidsville Physical Therapy & Fitness Center, Pelvic Physical Therapy (adult and pediatric), Pediatric Therapies (speech, OT, and PT), and Early Intervention departments connected with families and community members throughout the day, sharing information about services, wellness, injury prevention, movement, and overall health and safety.

The event brought together a wide variety of community organizations focused on emergency preparedness, personal safety, health, mental wellness, family support, and community resources — all with the goal of strengthening and supporting local families.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our tables and to the organizers for hosting such a meaningful community event!

Windber GYN Associates nurse practitioners Mandy ElBayly and Nicole Enedy recently presented our Girl Talk program at the annual You Go Girl workshop and retreat held at Pine Ridge Lodge in Blairsville. 💗

The session focused on promoting positive body image, self-love, and healthy self-esteem while encouraging open conversations and confidence among the girls in attendance. We are proud to support opportunities that empower young girls with education, encouragement, and compassion as they grow. ✨

💙 Yesterday, we were honored to join Windber Hospice for the ribbon cutting and reopening celebration of the Somerset inpatient hospice facility.

Hospice Medical Director Dr. Kelly Warshel shared a message that stood out: “Hospice is a philosophy, not a place.” That sentiment perfectly reflected the compassion, dignity, comfort, and support that hospice care brings to local families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

It was wonderful to see the Somerset community , local officials, healthcare leaders, and supporters come together to celebrate this important reopening and the continued commitment to hospice care here in Somerset County!

We are grateful to have organizations like Windber Hospice serving our community and helping provide care close to home for those who need it most.
