🌿 Sometimes, finding peace means learning to let go.

I’ve reached a place in my life where I don’t want to fight every battle, explain every decision, or carry things that were never mine to hold.

I’ve spent so much time trying to be strong, trying to figure everything out, trying to make life work the way I imagined it would.

But I’m learning something beautiful. Peace doesn’t always come when everything falls into place. Sometimes it comes when you finally stop trying to control how everything unfolds.

I’m still dreaming. Still growing. Still becoming the woman I want to be. But I’m also learning to enjoy the life happening right in front of me.

And if there’s one thing I know, it’s that Jehovah hasn’t brought me this far to leave me now.

So here’s to releasing what weighs us down, trusting the journey, and allowing ourselves to experience joy again.

Because beginning again doesn’t always mean starting over. Sometimes it simply means choosing peace. 💚

What are you learning to let go of in this season of your life?

You don’t have to solve your whole life today.

I have to remind myself of that sometimes.

A few days ago, I was driving from Florida to Cleveland. It was after midnight, somewhere in the Blue Ridge Mountains, thick fog all around me, when my car started sputtering and losing power.

Now THAT felt like a problem that needed to be solved right then.

And I did. I used my resources, called the people I needed to call, figured out what I could control in that moment, and eventually kept moving.

But here’s the part I’m still learning.

Not everything in my life is a broken-down car on a mountain after midnight.

Everything is not an emergency.

The bills don’t all have to be figured out today. Every Nido idea doesn’t have to be built today. I don’t have to know exactly how I’m going to fund the next collection today. Every unanswered question doesn’t need me sitting there running 47 different scenarios until I’ve mentally lived through all of them.

Some things can wait.

Today can just be today.

Drink the coffee while it’s still hot. Sit in the sun for a minute. Put the phone down. Laugh at something stupid. Take the nap. Watch the movie. Let your shoulders come down from wherever they’ve been living near your ears.

I’ve spent enough time in survival mode to know that sometimes your brain forgets the emergency is over.

There will always be something that needs fixing, planning, paying, building, healing, figuring out or starting over.

But rest is part of building too.

I don’t have to earn a peaceful afternoon by solving every problem in my life first.

Some days I just need to give my brain permission to close a few of those 20 tabs.

The problems will still be there tomorrow.

But maybe I’ll meet them rested.

And sometimes that changes everything.

Begin again. But you don’t have to begin everything today.

This trip to Cleveland was supposed to be about my health. Life had other plans.

I drove from Florida to Cleveland Clinic for medical appointments. I planned for gas, food and somewhere to sleep. What I didn’t plan for was my car shutting off on a dark, foggy mountain.

And when you’re no longer married, moments like that hit differently.

There isn’t another household income to fall back on. There isn’t a spouse to call and say, “Okay, what are we going to do?”

It’s on me.

My paycheck was $945.

Between $240 in gas, $87.15 in food, $122.33 for the hotel, $146.99 for an ignition coil, $46.99 for four spark plugs and another $130 shop fee, this trip cost me $773.46.

That’s most of my paycheck.

Then came another surprise: $843.56 for medication.

Yeah. 😳

But instead of just paying it or deciding I couldn’t get it, I started asking questions. I dealt with the insurance company and found out we need to go through the prior-authorization process.

And somewhere between Cleveland, that foggy mountain and the long drive back to Florida, I realized something about myself.

I didn’t panic. I prepared.

I used my resources. I asked questions. I accepted help. I solved the problem in front of me and then moved on to the next one.

I’m learning that being independent doesn’t mean I have to do everything alone. It means knowing that I’m responsible for my life while also being wise enough to use the support and resources around me.

Starting over isn’t always pretty.

Sometimes it looks like sitting on the side of a mountain wondering what in the world you’re going to do next.

Sometimes it looks like calling an insurance company and refusing to accept an $843 bill without understanding why.

Sometimes it looks like watching almost your entire paycheck disappear because you needed medical care and your car needed to get you home.

And sometimes, after an exhausting 18-hour drive, it looks like pulling into your driveway and seeing your dog running toward the car because you made it home. ❤️

I didn’t come home from this trip feeling like I had everything figured out.

I came home knowing something better:

I can trust myself to figure out the next step.

One problem. One decision. One mile at a time.

And for this chapter of my life, that’s enough. ❤️ BeginAgainStronger
