One would thing I have fallen off the face of the earth.. my friend was understanding of my absence and thrilled we were going to the movies today.

We arrived early enough to get goodies and check out the upcoming movies. Much to my surprise my friend said she would be interested in some of the “cute animated” movies .. pout pout fish definitely caught our attention but we agreed there might be something better when the time comes.

We checked out the secret Santa tree and were saddened that some children were asking for a blanket or a coat, when they should be asking for dolls, skates and cars.

With a large popcorn to share we settled in for our movie but not before seeing a commercial featuring a hip grease lighting dancin Santa..

Wicked 2 was great! My friend couldnt stop talking about it on the way home. She said it made her cry. We arrived just in time for bingo… but that was on hold as all the ladies wanted to hear about our adventure to the movies.

Makes me so happy to see her as a social butterfly.

I met Lola around 2018, Marc was the Exec Chef at Sunrise and I was volunteering mostly around holidays and special events. After the initial shut down of 2020- I became the activity director at Sunrise for the next 10 months.

Lola was one of my favorites. She was a quiet soul, yet very involved. We had wonderful conversations and I loved that she was always smiling and willing to give anything a try.

It’s been four years since I’ve seen Lola as she left Sunrise and moved to another community shortly after I left. I was surprised to receive from her daughter an envelope with little treasures. A card I had given her on Mother’s Day during lock down, which prevented her children from visiting. And a little card I had passed out on my last day working there. Each resident picked a sealed card - Lola’s card reads “We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day”.

She kept these things in a little box with special treasures that went thru evacuations and moves. It means so much to me that I meant so much to her to keep these little things with her.

Scrolling thru my phone, I find Lola. These three photos captures this wonderful woman.

The smile that lights up a room in her Valentines Love button project. The first volunteer to take a swing at our Covid piñata after second round of vaccines (this was her first time seeing a piñata), and lastly her willingness to help as we created banners for our big farmera market event.

I’ve missed our time together but you have and will always remain a dear friend in my heart.

After 9 months of planning … it all came together perfectly. My young friend was glowing and to be honest at times i was holding back tears of joy for her.

She got the wedding of her dreams, filled with all the unique and symbolic things that were Important to the young couple.

The official honeymoon takes place in a week when they head off to Japan for 10 days. 🥰

I think I maybe able to add wedding planner to my resume after that. May have to celebrate tomorrow with a lemon drop or something 🤓😘

In 4 days my young friend will be a Mrs.!!! I can’t believe we are at the home stretch 🥹

We had a long overdue girls day, as Aug had me out of commission due to illness. Thank goodness we kept to a timetable or we would’ve been in trouble.

Since it was a COOL fall day (our first) we hit Starbucks for some pumpkin spice. I splurged and had my first bit of caffeine in over 2 months!! It was so delicious!! Tiny but delicious 🥰 my friend splurged with pumpkin chai and we both were happy.

Next was the salon for full pampering of nails and toes. Being her first time my friend had no clue what to expect but loved all the attention. One of the customers asked if we were mother and daughter.. i told them we were friends… my young friend surprised me saying “BEST friends!” 💕🥰 My heart filled with a joy i haven’t felt since before my little ladies passed.

We talked wedding as our legs were enjoying Salt scrubs, foot massages and aromatherapy soaks. My friend showed me a photo of her in her dress taken last week and i about cried. She looks so beautiful.

Since we have a themed wedding .. we needed themed nails. My friend picked white toes with gold moons / stars and lots of sparkles. Her hands were an ombré of blue to white with gold moons and stars - she called herself “moon queen” … I kept with the theme but went with a navy color to match my dress.

With nails done, giddy girls returned home where one headed upstairs to take a nap. I met with mom and we went over details, set up and time line.

Moms concerned there may not be enough color on the patio, so I headed to Home Depot to see what color selection they had in mums… close, but not quite. Tomorrow I’m checking out Ace while mom tackles a nursery to see if we can find something that will work.

Whew!! Today I played with makeup and trying to figure out what works. Tomorrow I’ll mess with my hair as I have a much shorter haircut and layers and I need to figure out what the heck I’m gonna do. 🙈
