There is no duty more sacred than caring for someone’s child. When a parent comes to an ABA center, they’re trusting providers with their child’s physical and mental wellbeing. Every behavior analyst, behavior technician, front desk worker, janitor, and CEO must protect that child and facilitate high-quality, evidence-based care. When an employee abuses a child, it’s an unforgivable breach of their sacred duty. These individuals must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. And provider organizations must be held accountable. Their systems must be investigated and reformed to mitigate any future abuse.

Last Saturday, The New York Times published “Short Naps, Long Hours: How Autism Clinics Squeeze Medicaid Dollars Out of Preschoolers,” an article on applied behavior analysis (ABA) services for children with autism. It highlighted evidence of abuse by individual providers, as well as raised questions about organizations prioritizing profits over care. The article also presented a misleading picture of the evidence base supporting ABA’s efficacy.

Today is our very own Samantha Mcdonald's birthday! 🎂🎉

Samantha has really made Bright Futures special since she joined us. Samantha is not only a total powerhouse as an RBT, but is also in supervision to make her way up to being a BCBA! Can you imagine giving your all to kids 8 hours a day then going to give your all to school?

Thank you so much for your dedication to our clients and your friends and coworkers at BFLS. We are so happy to have you celebrating another year of you with us. Happy birthday, Samantha! 🌻💙

In ABA, the pathway from RBT to BCBA is one that is long and rewarding! Our very own Abby Edwards is making a huge leap in that process and beginning her supervision hours! This process allows for students in school for ABA to get hands on behavior intervention experience under an established BCBA. This allows for a dual-approach training that combines traditional education with real time application and feedback.

Way to go Abby! You're going to change lives out there, and we are SO happy to be a part of that journey! 🎉✨💪

Here's something to celebrate: Kaeleigh Grandon getting her RBT certification today! Passing the RBT exam is the culmination of a 40 hour training course and practical competency assessment, so this is absolutely something to applaud! Seeing Kaeleigh's dedication to delivering the excellence in care we strive for at BFLS is inspiring to everyone around her. She absolutely stuns in her commitment to making a difference in our client's lives. ✨

Thank you, Kaeleigh, and congratulations on getting your RBT! Keep changing lives 💪🎉

As April draws to a close, we wanted to shout out our incredible parents and guardians! Between Foundations and McCoy Academy, Bright Futures has seen thirty-six parent trainings! We are beyond proud to say that we couldn't do this without you.

The needs of our clients do not start and stop at the doors of our facilities, and making sure we give families everything we can to build home support systems is a great privilege. From tackling brushing teeth to working on building skills like cooking, having guardian involvement makes all the difference, and ensures that skills we work on in our clinics follow our clients beyond our walls!

We're lucky to have you, and our kids are too. Thank you, BFLS parents and guardians! 💫⭐️
