Mrs. Betty Jean Dozier, age 91, of Winfield, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her family. Betty was born on September 24, 1935 in Birmingham, Alabama to Theodore and Ora Mae Nail Robbins. She grew up in Sayre, Alabama before making her home in Winfield, where she has lived for more than 60 years. Betty was a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. She spent many years working as a seamstress with Reltoc Manufacturing before retiring. She found joy in crocheting, working puzzles, and watching her favorite game shows. Above all, Betty treasured the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Dozier is survived by her children, Bill Dozier, Jeff Dozier (Aleta), Debby Reed (Steve), Sherry Porter, Donna Nix (Gene), Teresa Stricklin, and Marsha Lockhart; 19 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; her brother, Jimmy Robbins (Marie); her daughter-in-law, Connie Dozier; and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Mrs. Dozier was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Dozier Jr.; her sons, Garry and Danny Ray Dozier; her granddaughters, Christy and Mandy Dozier; her parents, Theodore and Ora Mae Robbins; brothers, Paul, Ted, and Bobby Robbins; sisters, Linda Dickinson and Emma Lou Ford; daughter-in-law, Pam Dozier; and son-in-law, Phillip Stricklin.
A memorial service for Mrs. Dozier will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. from the Cornerstone Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Jimmie Dunn Harkness, better known as Jim, age 80 of Tuscaloosa, Alabama formerly of Winfield, passed away peacefully on October 18th,2026 surrounded by his children and granddaughter at DCH in Tuscaloosa. Jim was born at home to Fred Matthew Harkness and Sue Dell Harkness in Winfield, AL. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam war until injured and was honorably discharged in 1968. He worked as a Journeyman Electrician for over 40 years, traveling across the country and performing electrical work on industrial sites. He was a long-time member of One Hope Church in Northport, AL. He enjoyed playing golf and loved to help with One Hope Church doing handy man work as his mind would allow.

Mr. Harkness was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers, his brother Fred Daniel Harkness and his sister Johnnie Sue Beasley.

He is survived by his 3 children Matt (Vickie) Harkness, Collene Harkness, Maria (Chris) Robinson. He was grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren all of which he adored greatly. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives that he loved dearly as well.

Heartfelt thanks to the Tuscaloosa VA Home Based Primary Care, Crimson Village staff, and Dr. Avinash Nichani for always giving the best care to Daddy. His children would also like to thank his many other physicians and care team that continued to keep him well during his dialysis and care for his heart. We could not have had Dad as long as we did without you all.

A memorial service for Jim will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 5:00p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4:00p.m until 5:00p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Charlotte Boyett Overton, age 82, of Brilliant, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, October 16, 2026. Charlotte was born on October 12, 1944, in Augusta, Georgia, to Earl and Annie Lue Cliatt Boyett. She graduated from high school in Augusta before eventually making Alabama her home. Throughout her working years, Charlotte was employed at Health-Tex and Browning Williams before choosing to become a homemaker, devoting her time to caring for her family. Charlotte was a faithful member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Don Overton (Janet), Sharon Evers (John), and Keith Overton; her grandchildren, Shelby Rhudy (Josh), Morgan Dunn (Hayden), Kerington Overton, Elliott Overton, and Claire Overton; step grandson, Will Fraser; her great-grandchildren, Adaline and Bennett Rhudy; her sister, Janice Harden, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Overton; her parents, Earl and Annie Lue Boyett; and her sisters, Barbara Hendrix and Patsy Hendrix.
Funeral services for Mrs. Overton will be held on Sunday, October 18th at 4:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Patsy Nell Tucker, age 92, of Eldridge, Alabama, passed away at her residence on Thursday, October 15, 2026, surrounded by her family. Patsy was born on July 8, 1934, in Lynn, Alabama, to Charlie Benjamin Long and Rosa Savannah Lambert Long. One of ten children, she grew up surrounded by family. On October 29, 1955, Patsy married the love of her life, Charles Waylon (Tommy) Tucker. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three children. In 1963, they built their family home, where Patsy remained until her passing. That home became a place filled with memories, family gatherings, and the warmth of a woman whose love for her family knew no bounds. Patsy was a longtime, faithful member of Eldridge Church of Christ, where her church family held a special place in her heart. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she treasured the fellowship and friendships she shared with her church family throughout the years. Throughout her working years, Patsy served her community in many ways. Before her marriage, she worked for the local telephone company. After marrying Tommy, she worked at Holiday Homes in Lynn and Ben’s Store in Eldridge. In her later years, she devoted herself to caring for the elderly. She also loved her community and faithfully served for many years at the local voting polls. Although Patsy held many roles throughout her life, she considered her greatest accomplishments to be her family and her church family, both of whom she loved dearly. She was also well known throughout the community for her delicious fried pies, and they became one of the sweetest ways she shared her love with others.
Patsy is survived by her children, Vickie Tucker Cosby (Kevin), Scott Tucker (Meloney), and Sherrie Tucker Behel (Wade); her grandchildren, Shaun Cosby (Ashley) of Birmingham, AL, Luke Cantrell (Amanda) of Collierville, TN, Seth Cosby of Winfield, Tyler Behel (Brittany) of Winfield, Chelle Tucker Phillips (Mike) of Bentonville, AR, Hayden Thompson (Zach) of Florence, AL, and Wesley Tucker (Sarah Grace) of Petal MS; her great grandchildren, Kate Cantrell, Preston Cantrell, Owen Cosby, Sam Cantrell, Waylon Behel, Wright Cantrell, South Behel, Tucker Phillips, Lucy Behel, Olivia Phillips, Thomas Tucker, and (soon to be) Elizabeth Grace Tucker; her in-laws, Johnny and Betty Tucker, Jim and Margie Sue Wallace, Larry and Dorothy Tucker, Glenda Logan, Tommie and Donna Turner, and Wayne Riggs; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Waylon Tucker; her parents, Charlie and Rosa Long, her brothers, Bill Long (Verna), Eilis Long (Geneva), Cecil Long (Dola), Charles Ray Long (Dolly), and U.L. Long (Glynda); her sisters, Cleo Long, Clara Farris (Grady), Christine Farris (Wallace), and Opal Armstong (Clois), her parents-in-law, Cecil and Lucille Tucker; and sister-in-law, Louise Riggs.
A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Tucker will be held on Monday, October 19th at 11:00 a.m. from the Eldridge Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Kelly Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Sunday October 18th from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Gwendolyn Holt Hulsey, better known as Gwen, age 67, of Brilliant, Alabama passed away on Sunday, October 11th at North Mississippi Health Service-South Marion. Gwen was born on March 15, 1959, in Arkansas to Byron C. and Addie Bell Havner Holt. She was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church for many years. She also dedicated many years of service to the Brilliant Volunteer Fire Department. Gwen was a graduate of Dangerfield High School in Texas. Throughout her working years, she was employed at several area sewing plants until their closure. She later worked at Burgers and More, Jacks Family Restaurant and area Token stores for many years before serving as a manager at Taco Bell, where she remained until her retirement. Outside of work Gwen enjoyed crocheting and, most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Gwen is survived by her children, Marinda Hulsey (Daniel), Richard Hulsey (Ashley), and Rusty Hulsey (Leslie); her grandchildren, Rylee Hulsey (Anna Rae), Gracie Hernandez, Blakelyn Hulsey, Rayden Wright, Radley Hulsey, Cheyenne Hulsey, and Cruize, Axle, Kager, and Zade Motes; her brother, Byron R. Holt; her bonus daughters, Kristen Motes (Justin) and Megan Hansford (Joey); special friend, Stephanie Plunkett; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Hulsey; and her siblings, Gayla Beckwith and John Holt.

Alice Janine Drury, age 65, of Winfield, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, with her husband by her side at UAB St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham. Janine was born in Guin, Alabama on August 4, 1961, to Lester and Willie Mae Vickery. Janine loved her church and was a faithful member of Faith Church for 20 years. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she treasured her church family. A graduate of Winfield High School and Bevill State Community College’s nursing program, Janine dedicated nearly 45 years of her life to nursing and caring for others. She also spent 30 years managing Dr. William Lenahan’s OB/GYN office before her retirement. In her free time, Janine enjoyed camping, traveling, reading, and cooking. Most of all she cherished time spent with her family.
Janine is survived by her husband, Jerry Drury; her children, Kristy Ayers (Eddie), Ricky Flippo (Beth), Dustin Flippo (Samantha), Michelle Drury, and Nathan Drury (Susan); her bonus daughter, Brandy Flippo; her grandchildren, Aubrey Kelly, William Drury, Harper Drury, Jenna Sargent (Devin), Carter Ayers, Abby Ayers, Aiden Flippo, Mila Flippo, and Jayden Fissette; along with a host of extended family members, church family, and friends.
Janine was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Willie Mae Vickery; and her brothers, Michael and Winfred Vickery.
Funeral services for Janine will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 12:00 noon from the Faith Church with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon service time at the church.

Mrs. Linda Faye Kimbrell, age 82, of Winfield, AL, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, at her residence. She was born on June 17, 1944, in Wayside, Alabama to Clifton T. and Edna L. Beasley Causey. Faye was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister whose greatest joy in life was the people she loved. She had a big heart, and her family was especially important to her, and she treasured the time she spent making memories with them. Faye was a member of Mt. Calvery Baptist church. She was also well known in the local real estate community, working as a realtor for 27 years with Ballard Real Estate. Outside of work, Faye loved to shop, travel, collect antiques, celebrate holidays, and most of all, spend time with her family.
Faye is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Stancel Kimbrell; her children, Amy Whitehead (Greg), Amber Foster, Jill Pollard (Ricky), Jana Hulsey (Lee), and Ryan Kimbrell (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Joseph Moore (Jessica), Kelsi Moore, Derek Whitehead (Jonnika), Reed Tucker, Andrea Wallace, Cali Foster, Daphne Pasley (Jordan), Emily Sanderson, Devin Sanderson, Cody Hulsey, Grace Hulsey, and WeTona Mosley (Aaron); 23 great grandchildren; her brothers, Major Windell R. Causey (Carolyn) of Arizona and Ronald Causey (Jean); along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Faye was preceded in death by her grandson, Mason Tucker; her parents, Clifton and Edna Causey; and her parents-in-law, Walter and Selma Kimbrell.

Sam Roger Adkins, age 88, of Winfield, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at DCH Medical Center in Fayette. He was born on January 13, 1938 in Guin, Alabama to Connie Sam and Lucille McDaniel Adkins. Roger grew up during the Great Depression, when his family lived in a log cabin before eventually moving to Moline, Illinois, in search of work. Roger was a faithful Christian whose faith was an important part of his life. He was a current member of the Winfield Church of Christ and had previously been a longtime member of New Hope Church of Christ where he faithfully served as an elder for many decades. Among his greatest sources of pride were his four children. He was especially proud that each of them was a Christian first and college educated second. Roger was also a dedicated and hard-working man throughout his career. He helped build the 3M plant and remained employed there for 35 years before retiring at the age of 55. Roger enjoyed spending time at some of his favorite places, including Smith Lake and Gulf Shores.
Roger is survived by his children, Mac Adkins (Kim), Cindy Webster (Randy), Amy Meherg, and Debbie Adkins; his grandchildren, Andrew and Annabelle Adkins, Sam Webster (Courtney), Haley Webster, Paige Randolph, Blake Meherg (Bailey), Ben Meherg (Mikela), Michelle Prince, and Rachel Dixon (Brandon); his great-grandchildren, Bristol, Garrett, Anderson, Banks, Bentley, Boone, Hannah, and Amelia; one great-great grandchild, Navy; and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Adkins; his son, Richard Adkins; his grandson, Scott Randolph; grand son-in-law, Joe Prince; his parents; Connie Sam and Lucille Adkins; and his sister, Johnnie Faye Gilbert.
Funeral services for Mr. Adkins will be held on Tuesday, October 6th at 2:00 p.m. from the Winfield Church of Christ with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the church. Danny Stevan Miller, age 72, of Guin, Passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Northport Medical Center. Dan was born on July 10, 1954, in Haleyville, Alabama, to James and Lina Barnwell Miller. His parents were visiting family in Alabama at the time, having traveled from their home in Michigan. Dan grew up in Michigan and returned to Alabama as a young adult, where he remained the rest of his life. Dan was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and spent much of his career working as a painter in the construction industry. He later joined Continental Conveyor, where he worked until his retirement. Outside of work, he enjoyed woodworking and making furniture. He also loved spending time outdoors, especially walking and hiking.
Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Brenda Miller; his son, Andy Ables (Amy); his grandchildren, Adrian Flores (Lexie), Arianna Flores, Ashlynn Ables, Christian Ables, Zack Ables, and Andrew Ables; his great grandson, Bennett Flores; his sister, Debra Almond (Tom); his brother, Jamie Fletcher; his uncle, Johnny Barnwell; his aunts, Mahala Inlow and Barb Loveless; and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his daughters, Cammie and Christy Miller; his parents, James and Lina Miller; and his grandparents, Frank and Linda Barnwell.
