Today is World Mosquito Day! Besides being annoying, mosquitoes are very potent spreaders of some very serious illnesses! So make sure you’re staying safe with these tips!

• Use insect repellant with effective ingredients like DEET, picaridin, IR3535, & oil of lemon eucalyptus
• Avoid peak mosquito hours during dawn and dusk when they are most active.
• Remove mosquito habitats from around your home by dumping out standing water, emptying and changing water in bird baths, fountains, & potted plant trays.
• Wear protective clothing such as light-colored long-sleeve shirts and long pants.

Breastfeeding can also speed the recovery process following childbirth, including weight loss.

🎉 Congratulations to the City-Cowley County Health Department and Allyson Henley!

Today, RISE Cowley was proud to celebrate the Health Department’s $15,000 Pathways III award from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas to continue its Health in All Policies work. 💙

🗣️Their goal is to make Health in All Policies practical, understandable, and accessible to everyone. Health is shaped by more than what happens in a doctor’s office. The decisions communities make about transportation, housing, neighborhoods, food, schools, services, and other everyday systems can all influence our health and quality of life!

Ally and her team are working to take this big idea and make it useful right here in Cowley County, giving residents and community leaders tools to think about health when decisions are being made. 🌱🏘️🚶‍♀️

We are grateful for the City Cowley County Health Department’s longstanding partnership with RISE Cowley and excited to see where this work goes next!
