I've been developing this workshop for over a year.

Not because I wasn't excited about it, but because I kept refining it. Every client, every training weekend, every case study changed how I understood what I wanted this workshop to be.

For a long time I thought my hips were the problem. I stretched them constantly. I practiced yoga. I saw chiropractors. Massage helped for a while. Then everything slowly drifted back to where it had been.

Yoga therapy completely changed how I understood that experience.

Instead of asking, "What muscle needs to be stretched?" I started asking, "What movement patterns are contributing to my pain and stiffness?"

That simple shift opened up possibilities.

On August 1st, I'm teaching Yoga for Healthy Aging at Joy Lab. It's not about learning a bunch of stretches. It's an opportunity to become more curious about how your body moves, why it adapts the way it does, and explore new ways of moving with greater ease.

Honestly, it's the workshop I wish someone had offered me years ago.

Happy Moonday 🌖🌖🌖

I'm just now realizing June 21st is also Father's Day. That's not going to keep us from getting our meditation in. I simply wanted to acknowledge.

I thought I'd share a little glimpse of my favorite Yoga Nidra setup. This, like me 😉, is A LOT. Specifically: 2 bolsters, a felt pad, 2 blankets, 2 blocks, and 2 pillows.

Your setup can look however you want. The goal is simply to be comfortable and supported.

I will be sending the recording to everyone who registers, so if you can't make the live call, you can still receive the meditation. I look forward to sharing this lovely practice. 💕

Sent this out to my email list today - seems appropriate to share here as well ⬇️⬇️

Lately, I've been noticing something in both my clients and myself.

When we're stressed, tired, or overwhelmed, our first instinct is often to do more.

Sometimes what helps most is learning how to truly rest.

That's one of the reasons I love Yoga Nidra. It's one of the simplest practices I know for helping the body and nervous system settle. I'm considering adding a weekly online class to my schedule.

This would be a chance to slow down, settle your nervous system, and practice deep rest from the comfort of your home.

Before I spend time building it, I'd like to know if anyone is interested.

If so, simply reply NIDRA.

If enough people are interested, I'll send out more details.

For a long time, I thought my hips and shoulders were the problem.

After years of CrossFit, yoga, and sitting at a desk for work, they constantly felt tight.

My yoga practice certainly helped, but the tightness always came back.

What surprised me most during yoga therapy training was realizing how much tension I was holding around my rib cage and how that was affecting everything connected to it.

No amount of stretching my hips was going to solve that.

I also realized my body was exhausted from the constant effort to hold everything together.

That realization changed the way I approach movement for myself and the people I work with.

If this resonates with you, I’m teaching Yoga for Healthy Aging in Winfield starting Saturday.

I’m genuinely surprised by how often clients tell me:

“It hurts when I do this, but it must be good for me.”

I used to believe that too.

But movement and exercise should not be painful.

Uncomfortable? Sometimes.

Painful? No.

If it hurts every time you raise your arm, bend over, or walk up the stairs, there is a reason.

The answer is usually not to keep forcing the same movement and hope your body eventually gives in.

The better approach is to understand what your body is doing and give it a new option.

This is a big part of what we work on in my 6-week Yoga for Healthy Aging series.

Many people assume pain and stiffness are simply part of getting older.

Often, they are signs that your body has adapted in ways that are no longer serving you.

And that can change.

The next in person series in Winfield begins May 30.
