Age: Most commonly affects adults 60 and over
Family History: Genetics play a role in AMD development
Smoking: Doubles your risk of AMD
Poor Diet: Lack of antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids can contribute
Prolonged UV Exposure: Without proper eye protection
Cardiovascular Disease or High Blood Pressure

Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is an age-related condition that causes gradual loss of central vision and often develops without early symptoms. AMD is the leading cause of vision loss in adults 60 and older. Another reason to the importance of year eye exams!
