Here are some tips for attending the wake for Carrie Stetson this Friday, June 26, 2026 from 3 - 7 PM -

Pay attention when driving and walking on Rte 44, people are distracted and upset.

Be conscience of warm temperatures or chance of rain so be equip if needed with water, umbrella or chair.

Lines will be long and walking for parking has potential as well to be far so wear comfortable shoes.

Be patient with people directing traffic there will be Wi******er Police, CT State Police, Winsted Volunteer Fire Department and the Winsted Dept of Public Works helping with traffic and parking.

Once inside, Carrie’s immediate family, her three children will be the receiving line. Be prepared with words of comfort or healing messages for them.

The large crowd will limit amount of people that will be able to stay so kindly keep in mind to make room for others as the whole community is grieving and would like a chance to attend.

The press was asked to stay off the premises and will be escorted by law enforcement if necessary. The family would like privacy to grieve from cameras. If approached in the street by press, be careful as Rte 44 is hectic during those hours. Very well travelled road.

If you come and cannot find parking, you can always come back during the set hours. Many times lines are longest in the first hour and half.

If you are unable to attend the wake, the family is having a celebration of life on Saturday at Gilbert School from 1 - 5PM.

Carrie was well loved and certainly deserves a beautiful tribute. Thank you for your cooperation.

It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Lisa A. Leavenworth. Lisa was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer earlier this year and succumbed to her illness on June 19, 2026.

Lisa created a safe, welcoming place to rest for everyone she knew and was rewarded with love and respect from those who knew her. This was evident in the seemingly endless stream of visitors who took the time in her final weeks to come laugh, cry and remember the good time with her. She embodied kindness and compassion.

Lisa was always ready for fun and always ready with a dirty joke or prank. She never took herself too seriously and tried to influence those around her to do the same. We know she will be well received on the other side by her countless family and friends who have gone on before, knowing that they must have missed her just as much as we do now.

Lisa leaves behind the love of her life, Ralph C. Leavenworth III. They knew from middle school that they were meant to be and would have celebrated their 41st anniversary in July. She also leaves behind her daughters, Jenna (Jamie) Crandall and Amanda (Elijah) Holland as well as her honorary sons, Timothy (Jessica) Hamilton and Jeffrey (Ellen) Hamilton. Lisa and Ralph share 4 beautiful grandchildren, Graysyn Holland, McKinley Holland, Ryan Crandall and Bryce Crandall. She leaves behind her mother, Linda Riiska and sister, Eve Bannish as well as many other family members. She is predeceased by her father Ed “Butch” Riiska.

As requested by Lisa, graveside services will be held on June 26, 2026 at the Sandisfield Center Cemetery at noon. A picnic will follow at the Leavenworth residence, all those who knew and loved Lisa are welcome to attend. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted has care of the arrangements. Mary Kathleen (Karr) Ransom, age 56, of West Hartland, CT, passed away unexpectedly in her home on June 16, 2026. She is survived by her husband; Jason Ransom, her three children; Ashley Karr, Steven Karr, and Jessie Ransom, her parents; Jessie Karr and Allan Karr, and her siblings; Robert and Melissa Karr, and Alex and Renee Karr, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was an unbelievably incredible daughter, wife, mother, and friend. She was a prolific artist and extremely creative. Whether it was making a milk carton costume for girl scouts, creating a Nickelodeon slime themed birthday party for her children, or devising art projects for the South Windsor senior center attendants, no project was too big for her. She took all challenges head on, and loved fiercely.

She was known for her gorgeous smile that could light up a room. Her fun hair, which she was always changing. She was also known for her compassionate spirit, her kindness, and her non-judegmental attitude. She did so much in her life.

She was a CCD teacher at St Joseph's, spreading her pure love for Jesus’s teachings with the youth. She was a girl scout leader for both her oldest and youngest daughter’s troops, enriching the lives of so many young girls and empowering them to go through life with confidence and kindness. She was a graphic designer at TonSha and used her limitless creativity to create phenomenal ads and projects. She had been a personal trainer at the MELT gym, and worked to uplift and motivate her clients to push themselves and get strong.

She illustrated three beautiful children’s books, utilizing her artistic skills to convey important social lessons to children. Mary led yoga classes, incorporating scents and sounds to create a tranquil environment for her students. She was an incredible freelance illustrator and creator of all types of art, using colored pencils, pastels, charcoal, yarn, watercolors, oil paints, acrylics, and digital mediums to create beautiful artwork.

Mary was also an ingenious party planner: every party she threw for her children was themed and thoroughly decorated.

She worked at the Riverton General Store, and made close bonds with her coworkers and some of the customers there, using her artistic prowess to redesign signage. Mary led art classes at the South Windsor senior center, enabling the seniors to have fun and explore their creativity. She always practised all of her art projects with her parents, ensuring she was confident to lead the classes.

She was recently employed as a paraprofessional through CREC, and she loved working with her students. She made such a positive impact on their lives.

She also loved working in her numerous gardens, reading, working on puzzles, completing art projects, watching The Great British Bake-off with her husband, and spending time with her children. Mary led an incredibly full, creative, and loving life.

She is also survived by her brother, Scott Crossfield (Jenn), and their children, Aiden and Sophie; her sisters, Kyle Limlaw (Bryce), parents of Olivia and Gabe Limlaw and grandparent of Cora Wadsworth, and Kim Dellatto (Jeff), parents of Annarose and Joey Dellatto and grandparent of Riker Schneider.

Family and community were the foundation of what made Carrie who she was. She was a loving mother who built her family's legacy through The Railway Cafe, where she worked side by side with her three beautiful children to create a place for people to gather, spend quality time together, and experience the love she shared so freely throughout the community she held so dear. Every aspect of the cafe was created deliberately and meticulously, with the charm and attention to detail that we all came to associate with her.

Carrie truly loved her customers, whether they were longtime regulars or newcomers visiting for the first time. She often made her way through the dining room, taking time to chat with guests and brighten their day with her warm heart and loving smile. Alongside her children, she enjoyed working with her lifelong friend, Lisa Mongitore, with whom she shared a special bond. From their Sunday ritual of Goodwill thrifting to their uncanny ability to know exactly what the other was thinking, their friendship was one she cherished deeply.

Carrie loved her little town of Winsted. She sat on numerous committees dedicated to improving and promoting the community, including Friends of Main Street and the Economic Development Commission. She strived to see her community thrive and prosper, fully supporting and promoting other small businesses and being their number one cheerleader as their businesses flourished.

Carrie was a lover of animals just as much as she was a lover of people. She worked with local rescue organizations and was the definition of a "foster fail," always opening her home and heart to any animal in need.

Carrie was a thoughtful and loving person whose generosity knew no bounds. With her infectious smile and unwavering loyalty to her family, friends, and community, she truly knew no strangers. To know her was to love her; and to be loved by her.

Carrie cherished the time she spent with her many close friends. Whether it was attending a Bret Michaels concert, taking a weekend getaway, working on crafts, sharing a meal, catching up over coffee, or simply talking on FaceTime while she prepped food at the cafe, every moment spent together became a treasured memory. Her friendships were built on laughter, loyalty, and genuine connection, and those who knew her were grateful for the love and joy she brought into their lives.

Family meant everything to Carrie. She loved bringing people together and was often the host of holiday gatherings, opening her home not only to family but also to friends who quickly became family. She had a special gift for making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Her table was always full, and her door was always open.

One of Carrie's happiest places was Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, where she and her family vacationed every year. Those trips were filled with laughter, good food, and togetherness. Along with her children, their friends and her own were always welcome to join. Carrie never minded cooking for a crowd! In fact, she loved it. Nothing brought her more happiness than seeing the people she cared about enjoying themselves and making memories together. Her generosity, warmth, and love for others were at the heart of everything she did.

As we celebrate and commemorate Carrie's life, may we find comfort in these memories and in the lasting impact she had on all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Friends may call on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main St, Winsted, CT 06098.

Christopher “Chris” Reade, 60, of Winsted, C.T. passed away on June 8, 2026.

Born on 07/21/1965 in California, Chris spent much of his life working as a mechanic. He had a love for motorcycles, rock and roll music, playing guitar, old cars, and the freedom of the open road. He was also a devoted animal lover and was rarely without a canine companion by his side throughout his life.

In Winsted, Chris was known for his efforts to clean and restore old headstones in local cemeteries. He dedicated countless hours to preserving local history and honoring the memory of those who came before. His work reflected a deep appreciation for the stories and lives that shaped the community he called home. Chris was also a part of the Bridgeport Motorcycle Association.

Like all of us, Chris experienced both triumphs and challenges throughout his life, but he took it in stride and made his life an adventure.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kathleen Picone (Rycroft), and Barry Reade.

He is survived by his only child, daughter, Shaunacy Patterson and her three children; his two sisters, Tamara Reade, and Kimberly Reade; his brother, Daniel Reade; his dear friend Nancy Dillon, and many relatives, friends, fellow riders, and community members who will remember him.

As we say goodbye, may we all take comfort knowing he is somewhere back on the open road, riding that big hog in the sky, wind to his back with his most loyal road dog Mickey (aka Scrappy) by his side, and Metallica blasting as loud as the heavens will allow. May his memory live on in the lives he touched, and the stories shared by those who knew him.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at a later time.
