Phoenix Rising Therapy Services

Phoenix Rising Therapy Services Trauma, dissociation, and DBT-informed therapy. A place to exhale, heal, and reconnect with yourself. Hi, I'm Becky.

I work with adults who are tired of just surviving and are ready to better understand themselves, heal from trauma, and create meaningful change. My office was intentionally designed to feel warm, comfortable, and human because I believe therapy should be a place where you can exhale. I offer in-person therapy in Winston-Salem, NC.

🌳 **The Hope Tree has a new home.**

After spending last week with us at the Stay Day Fair, our Hope Tree has made its way to . πŸ’™

It started as a simple idea: give people a place to leave a little hope behind.

A word of encouragement.
A reminder.
Something you've survived.
Something you wish someone had told you when you needed it most.

And now the tree gets to keep growing.

If you're at Pages Books, stop by and read a few of the notes. Take the one you need with you.

And if you have a little hope to spare, add some for the person who comes after you.

Because sometimes we find hope on our own.

And sometimes we borrow it from each other. 🌿

A huge thank you to for giving our tree a place to keep growing.

Trauma can make life very small.

Sometimes so much energy goes into getting through the day, keeping everyone okay, staying safe, avoiding the next bad thing, or simply holding yourself together that there isn't much room left to wonder:

What do I actually want?

Not what keeps the peace.

Not what makes everyone else happy.

Not what feels safest.

What do you want your life to feel like?

Healing isn't about becoming the person you were before trauma. Sometimes that person never even got the chance to exist.

It's about getting to know the person you can become when survival doesn't have to make every decision anymore.

πŸ’™ And if you're ready to start exploring that, Creating Change begins September 23.

Our 8-week virtual trauma processing group is a space to explore what trauma left behind β€” and begin deciding what you want to carry forward.

There is more to you than what you had to do to survive.

Human moment.

As I scroll through my feed this morning, there are tears. There are every year.

I was 18 when this happened, a freshman at Syracuse University. I can still tell you what I was wearing, what happened before and when I found out. After gets a little hazy, more fragmented.

My friend down the hall screaming when she found out her uncle was in the building.

The sound of the helicopters coming in with burn victims headed for the hospital in Syracuse.

The total fear.

And, the candlelight memorial we all attended on the quad. It was the first time I felt the power of grieving in a group, and healing in a group. Finding hope in the humanity of others.

I don’t ever for a moment forget that day, and just want to take a moment to acknowledge all the feelings that we, collectively, feel.

Sometimes one of the most frustrating parts of trauma healing is knowing exactly why you do something β€” and still doing it.

You know why you shut down.

You know why conflict makes your whole body react.

You know why you overthink, people-please, disconnect, avoid, or feel responsible for everyone around you.

You may even know exactly where those patterns came from.

And that insight matters.

But trauma healing isn't only about understanding your survival strategies. It's also about slowly discovering what happens when you don't need them in quite the same way anymore.

That means noticing the old pattern. Getting curious about what it's protecting. Learning to tolerate something different. Practicing new responses. And doing it again and again until different starts to feel possible.

πŸ’™ That's a big part of the work we're doing in Creating Change.

Our 8-week virtual trauma processing group is designed to help you move beyond simply understanding your trauma and begin exploring the beliefs, emotions, patterns, and responses it left behind.

You survived by adapting.

Healing can include getting to choose which of those adaptations you still need.

What an incredible day in Mount Airy! πŸ’™

We were so honored to be part of the Stay Day Fair and spend the day surrounded by people and organizations coming together around hope, connection, and the reminder that none of us have to do the hard things alone.

We may have gotten a *little* windswept and had to pack up earlier than planned πŸŒ¬οΈπŸ˜‚, but that didn't take away from what an amazing experience it was.

One of our favorite parts was watching people add to **Hope Tree** throughout the day with messages of hope from the community. πŸŒ³πŸ’™

And the Hope Tree isn't finished yet!

We're hoping that after some needed wind-related repairs it will make its way home to **Pages Books** by Friday, where it can keep growing with even more messages of hope.

Thank you, Mount Airy, for such a wonderful day β€” and to everyone who stopped by, added something to the tree, talked with us, or simply shared the space.

We loved being part of it. πŸ’™
