I have a few more posts to share of from our road trip, but I must say that I feel deeply grateful to be able to share these captures with the world. While my friends and followers know that capturing a full-body in my local cemetery is the norm (but like, how mind-blowing is even that?), to be able to engage in paparazzi fun for our historic brethren in Gettysburg is an honor. Words can’t express my appreciation for the spirit world, their willingness to support my mission of making their continued existence known (and the disbelief and ignorance a hopeful thing of the past, in time), and I share these images out of an abundance of love for them and us all.
And with that, I promised that I’d shared details of our non-photographed experiences within each caption, and as such, a share of our encounters are continued below:
After my husband and I heard the gunshots and smelled the smoke in Ziegler’s Grove, I was on a mission for “more”, since my goal was for Pete to experience even a fraction of what I experience as a medium.
Although I had quite the mediumistic encounter in the hotel room that night (a soldier gave me a rundown of his battlefield experience), the following evening I hoped that we’d have a repeat occurrence of the night before, and so we traversed Ziegler’s Grove once again at midnight.
Although we did hear yelling, rowdy behavior and indiscernible chants in the distance (this wasn’t from the town, which was closed at that hour, but was from spirit) and although I did hear leather shoes walking closely behind us - in addition to smelling horses near Pickett’s Charge - I grew impatient that we didn’t have a repeat experience as jaw-dropping as night 1.
Frustrated, I asked Pete if he’d go into the Cemetery with me (which we now know is illegal to enter after sunset!) and at 1AM we entered the gates, and almost immediately were greeted with an overpowering sweet scent, resembling a mix of molasses and something else that I still can’t quite label. The scent stopped us in our tracks and walked with us as we walked on. Pete smelled every plant and none smelled even remotely of the scent…[continued in the next post].
