Emotional stress causes physical symptoms.

Let us say it again... when we experience stress, it causes us to hold muscular tension ➡️ Pain develops ➡️ Sleep and other systems get disrupted ➡️ cycle continues.

Knowing strategies to lessen stress and anxiety + addressing the physical symptoms (like a pelvic floor therapist is trained to do!) can help you feel better body and mind!

Pain with intimacy is common—but that doesn't mean it's normal.

If you've ever experienced burning, tightness, pain, or difficulty with in*******se, tampon use, or pelvic exams, you may be dealing with vaginismus.

Vaginismus occurs when the pelvic floor muscles involuntarily tighten in response to attempted pe*******on, making intimacy uncomfortable, painful, or even impossible. Many women describe it as feeling like they're "hitting a wall" or being unable to relax their muscles despite wanting to.

What many people don't realize is that vaginismus is often about more than just tight muscles. Contributing factors can include pelvic floor dysfunction, chronic pelvic pain conditions, past painful experiences, hormonal changes, stress, anxiety, and nervous system sensitization.
The good news? Vaginismus is treatable.

Pelvic floor physical therapy can help address the physical root causes through muscle relaxation, nervous system regulation, education, and gradual progression toward your goals. Many women also benefit from working with a s*xual health therapist or counselor as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.

You deserve answers. You deserve support. And you deserve intimacy that is comfortable and pain-free.

If you're struggling with pain during intimacy, tampon insertion, or gynecological exams, our team is here to help.
