When three-year-old Maya (not her real name) struggled with eating, her Family Services Head Start Family Advocate helped uncover that she suffered from severe dental pain, and we connected her to the care she needed. Last year, Family Services helped provide continuous dental care to over 400 Head Start Preschool children and nearly 60 Early Head Start infants and toddlers, just like Maya.

Your gift helps children like Maya get the healthy start they deserve. Give today and ensure that Family Services and Head Start continue to make a difference for children and families in Forsyth County: https://familyservicesforsyth.org/support-us/give-now/

"What Family Services is building here goes way beyond four walls. It's safety, dignity, hope, and a fresh start for women and children who need it most."

Those were the words of former World Boxing Organization Featherweight Champion Heather "The Heat" Hardy, as shared in a recent Forsyth Woman and Forsyth Family Magazines article highlighting the Family Services Foundation and its Women's Luncheon held earlier this year. The inaugural event launched a new endowment to help operate the emergency domestic violence shelter in perpetuity.

Our counseling offices are equipped with trauma-informed tools to help guide children through the therapy process, such as a weighted stuffed animal.

When held during moments of overwhelm or anxiety, they activate the body's natural relaxation response, lowering stress and promoting focus and healing. These safe, inviting friends comfort children during counseling sessions at Family Services, but they aren't possible without your support.

When you make an gift of just $30 now, you help provide comfort by purchasing one weighted stuffed animal. Be the difference in a child's life now: https://familyservicesforsyth.org/support-us/give-now/

After 34 years of dedicated service, we are honored to celebrate Shelia Ebrahim, affectionately known as Ms. E, and the lasting impact she has had on Family Services as a member of our Child Development team.

Since she first joined us as a Head Start parent, Ms. E's journey has evolved from working in the extended day program to becoming a teacher, then Center Manager, and finally Child Care Partnership Manager. Throughout her career, she has been a dedicated, caring advocate and source of support, committed to high-quality learning experiences and resources that enable children and families to thrive.

Vivien Stearns, Chief Program Officer, Child Development, shared, “Her journey reflects not only her dedication to Family Services, but also her passion for supporting others and building strong relationships throughout our community. Her experience, compassion, and ability to navigate even the most challenging situations have made a lasting impact on countless lives, and she will be greatly missed.”

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. E for her exceptional leadership and wish her happiness in this new chapter. Ms. E, we are better because you were a part of Family Services, and your impact will continue for years to come.
