A teachable moment:
Tonight, my husband and I attended the Young Life annual fundraising banquet (our son-in-love, David, works for Young Life and is one of the banquet coordinators). As most of you know, since I go to bed so early, I normally eat my last meal of the day between 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm...but the event did not start until 6:00; well passed my time to eat dinner and right at my bedtime.
That said, there was a time that I would have not gone to the dinner or would not have eaten while there. During that time, I was on a strict eating plan and...I was miserable 😖. Miserable because my life evolved around making sure I stuck to my plan...to the letter...never veering from it...never. I lived like that for a couple of years.
Because of this, I missed so many family functions and opportunities to socialize and bond with friends.
I praise God for breaking that in me! Now, I simply plan around the event(s) and live life freely. Earlier in the day, I had a good balanced breakfast, a very light lunch and a small snack at around 3:00. That way, I was able to stick within my calorie deficit, even at the banquet.
Joe and I had a wonderful time and shared in the success of the evening with our daughter, Hannah, and her husband and had a nice meal.
The journey to better health and fitness is not easy and requires dedication BUT it does not mean you have to be unhappy along the way. You have to find a BALANCE.
Much love, Transformationers ❤️!
Good night.
