¡Vaya! ¿Quién tuvo un verano estupendo? ¡Qué calor, ¿verdad?! Para mí, la temporada de verano estuvo llena de gente, celebraciones y osos (luego les explico). Hubo dos acontecimientos trascendentales en Estados Unidos este verano; uno más importante que el otro. Celebramos 250 años de libertad. A mí me pareció una celebración algo deslucida, pero, independientemente de esa impresión, 250 años de libertad son algo significativo, sobre todo para quien sabe lo que es no ser libre. Muchas comunidades de inmigrantes procedentes de países con menos libertades celebran el 4 de julio con gusto, mientras que los ciudadanos nativos lidian con la definición cambiante de lo que significa ser libre en Estados Unidos. Man! Who had a great summer?? Hot right??? The summer season for me was full of people, celebration, and bears (I'll explain later). There were two momentous events in the US this summer. One greater than the other. We celebrated 250 years of freedom. It felt lackluster (for me), but regardless of how it felt 250 years of freedom is significant, especially to anyone who knows what it's like to not be free. Many immigrant communities who are coming from less free countries celebrate July 4th with gusto, while natural born citizens grapple with the changing definition of what it means to be free in the US. ✨ To read the full blog post:

Is everyone loving spring or what? All the pollen??? The allergies, the runny noses, and itchy eyes. The beauty of spring is worth it right? Through our itchy irritated eyes it might be hard to appreciate the wonders of spring, a world reborn.
A couple of months ago I learned of a Chinese doctor, Dr. Ming Wang, that pioneered the science of amniotic membrane contact lens (AMCL). Dr. Wang wanted to heal some types of blindness, and realized that the amniotic membrane helps babies heal regeneratively, without scarring. As explained during his youtube (https://youtu.be/ROPMsfXfiBQ) interview once an AMCL is placed on the eye, regenerative healing begins to occur. As if the brain believes it's in the amniotic sac. Regenerative healing is accelerated healing with no scarring. New tissue is made to replace the old.
Can you imagine what it would be like to heal without scars? To be made new? And don't get me wrong, scars can come to be valuable battle trophies. They remind us that we have survived. Post traumatic growth declares how we are better for what we have gone through, and this type of healing is also invaluable. But when I think about the words of Christ to Nicodemus, you have to be reborn into the kingdom, I cannot help but think of regenerative healing. Isaiah 43:18-19 declares “But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Can you imagine forgetting the past? Being made so new that there is no scarring? God invites us to see, He has already begun. You don't have to wait to enter the kingdom. We see this rebirth in spring. We see this healing in the amniotic sac. Dr. Ming Wang was convinced of the existence of God because of the complexity of the eye, and he later discovered how regenerative healing happens in the womb. God invites us to be reborn. He makes paths in the wilderness, and rivers in the wastelands. Welcome Spring.

¿Te imaginas lo que sería sanar sin cicatrices? ¿Ser renovado por completo? Y no me malinterpretes: las cicatrices pueden llegar a convertirse en valiosos trofeos de batalla. Nos recuerdan que hemos sobrevivido. El crecimiento postraumático nos revela que somos mejores gracias a lo que hemos vivido, y este tipo de sanación es también inestimable. Pero cuando reflexiono sobre las palabras que Cristo dirigió a Nicodemo —«tienes que nacer de nuevo para entrar en el Reino»—, no puedo evitar pensar en la sanación regenerativa. Renewal
Can we breathe in and enjoy the air as it changes into spring? The world is in renewal and we get to watch as trees that looked gnarled and bare recover with buds of promise. We never tire of this wonder. The science behind it astonishes. The Creator who dresses the seasons is genius. The more we know about the world around us the more we know the Creator, and even ourselves. Our connection to nature is on an Avatar type level, even if we do not know it.

Nature, like relationships, is a co-regulator. Countless documentaries and books give evidence to our never ending fascination and our relationship with nature. So go ahead and breathe in life as the world is renewed. Enjoying the breath is crucial to reaping the benefits of deep breathing. On the other hand forced deep breath has been shown to be counter productive.

I love a deep breath especially in nature. I love breathing in the rain, the cold air, honeysuckles are absolutely scandalous, and breathing in strawberries in their appointed time is pure pleasure. As the world revives and resurrection is around the corner, I can’t help to think of breathing in coffee. Surely the smell of resurrection!

Deep breathing with intent is a powerful regulator. The book Breath by James Nestor is a wonderful resource on the research and benefits of practiced breathing. The Nature Fix by Florence Williams is a fascinating study on our relationship with nature. This spring you are invited to breathe, enjoy, renew.
