Frank was admitted to our Encompass Health hospital in Danbury, Connecticut after a cardiac event that was complicated by aspiration pneumonia. Prior to his hospitalization, he was fully independent, active and worked as a nurse at our Danbury hospital.

With strong support from his wife and determination in therapy, Frank made steady progress. By discharge, he was walking without assistive devices and even practicing boxing movements with his therapist. 🥊

We are proud to celebrate his successful recovery and return home!

Doris was admitted to our Encompass Health hospital in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania after developing pneumonia that required hospitalization. She also has a history of Guillain-Barré syndrome, which had prevented her from walking for 20 years.

Doris was thrilled when the therapy team had her walking by day three of her rehabilitation stay. While the distances were short, she was excited to regain the ability to walk into her bathroom and move around her home for the first time in two decades.

On Wednesday, we celebrated the grand opening of our newest hospital! Located in Lower Providence Township, Pennsylvania, this 50-bed rehabilitation hospital will provide life-changing care to those recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations and other complex orthopedic and neurological conditions.

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Lower Providence marks our 11th location in Pennsylvania. It is expected to begin serving patients later this month.

Ronald was admitted to our Encompass Health hospital in Sunrise, Florida to recover from a leg infection. Therapy helped him regain strength and mobility and after 10 days of rehabilitation, Ronald discharged walking independently with a rollator.

On his final day at the hospital, he surprised our team by teaching them how to dance the foxtrot!

“I can’t believe you all got me dancing again,” he said. “I haven’t danced in years and never thought I’d be strong enough to do it.”

During an occupational therapy session at our Encompass Health hospital in Lutz, Florida, John practiced preparing one of his favorite meals: a burger with a side salad! 🍔🥗

Earlier this year, our Encompass Health hospital in Tallahassee, Florida was honored to support long time Florida State University defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews during his recovery after a fall. Mickey broke his right femur and injured his elbow while protecting his great-granddaughter from harm.

Shirley Jennings was admitted to Novant Health Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health, after a stroke affected her mobility and independence. When she arrived, Shirley required maximum assistance with self-care tasks and the support of two people for transfers. Through hard work and dedication in physical and occupational therapy, she made significant progress during her rehabilitation stay.

By discharge, Shirley was walking up to 67 feet with assistance from one person and actively participating in her self-care routine. Her sitting balance also improved, allowing her to transition from a specialty wheelchair to a standard wheelchair. Her husband, Donald, credits the progress she made to the support of her entire care team. 🎉💙
