Repetition has always been a familiar concept in psychotherapy.

Patterns in relationships, emotions, and behavior often follow a recognizable form.

Understanding those patterns can bring clarity to the work.

It can help both therapist and client see what is happening over time.

But recognition does not always change the pattern.

A client can identify the repetition and still find themselves in it.

This is often where the work shifts.

EMDR focuses on the experiences that are driving the repetition, rather than the pattern itself.

As those experiences are processed, the repetition begins to lose its momentum.

The pattern does not need to be broken. It begins to resolve.

If you’re exhausted from carrying the weight of the past, give us a call and see if EMDR might be a good fit your you.

If you or someone you love is thinking about stopping alcohol or drugs, you may be wondering what kind of help is needed.

For some people in Winston-Salem and across the Piedmont Triad, outpatient detox can be a safe option - allowing you to receive medical support while staying at home.

It’s not right for everyone, and safety always comes first. The right level of care depends on your unique situation.

If you’re not sure where to start, this may help:

Sleepless nights.
Constant worry.
Uncertainty about what to do next.

Many families feel they must navigate this alone.

• Family consultation
• Treatment navigation
• Addiction medicine evaluation
• Guidance on levels of care

Recovery is a long-term process, and understanding relapse risk is an important part of sustaining it.

This recent article from the Harvard Gazette highlights the work of addiction researcher John Kelly and explores warning signs that may signal increased risk for relapse, even after years of sobriety.

It’s a thoughtful reminder that recovery requires ongoing awareness, support, and care.

We’re glad to share this important perspective.

New study focuses on those with long history of sobriety.
