πŸ›΅ A Little More Freedom, A Lot More Independence πŸ’™

This is what Project Helpful Hearts is all about.

We Care of Central Florida was able to connect our patient, Victoria, with a mobility scooter, giving her greater independence and the freedom to move through her day with a little more ease.

And judging by that smile, we think she’s pretty happy with her new ride! 😊

Every piece of donated medical equipment has the potential to change someone’s daily life. Today, that someone is Victoria.

Happy riding, Victoria! πŸ›΅πŸ’™

We are honored to announce that We Care of Central Florida has been awarded a 2026 AdventHealth Polk Market Community Impact Grant in the amount of $50,000.

This investment will help remove barriers that prevent Polk County residents from living healthier lives by expanding access to transportation, nutritious food, and essential healthcare services.

Grant funding will support:
🧑 Project Ride to Wellness, providing free weekly transportation to grocery stores and food pantries for seniors, veterans, and other vulnerable residents experiencing food insecurity and transportation barriers.

πŸš— Project Ride to Health, helping uninsured and underserved residents access medical appointments, behavioral health services, pharmacies, diagnostic testing, and other essential healthcare services.

🩺 Diagnostic Assistance, helping eligible patients obtain medically necessary laboratory services, imaging, and diagnostic procedures that often lead to life-changing treatment and specialty care.

We are incredibly grateful to AdventHealth for their continued partnership and commitment to improving the health and well-being of our community. Together, we are creating healthier futures for Polk County residents, one ride, one appointment, and one patient at a time. πŸ’™

πŸ’™ Meet the Team Monday!

Six months ago, Sam joined the We Care team, and she's already made a lasting impact. Her heart for serving others started long before We Care, with nearly a decade of volunteering and six years in nonprofit work. Safe to say, helping people isn't just her job, it's who she is.

Outside the office, you'll find her rock climbing, tending to her garden, dreaming about hiking Mt. Rainier, or adding "master herbalist" to her list of future talents. And if you ask about breadcrumbs... just know she has very strong opinions. πŸ˜‚

We're grateful to have you on the team, Sam. Thanks for bringing your heart, dedication, and sense of adventure to We Care every day. πŸ’™

This July, transportation wasn't the reason someone missed care. πŸ’™

More than 2,200 one-way rides connected uninsured Polk County residents to the healthcare they needed, including specialist appointments, dental care, mental health counseling, labs, diagnostics, and prescription pick-ups.

Every ride removed a barrier.
Every destination brought someone closer to better health.
Every mile was made possible because our community believes healthcare should be accessible to everyone.

Thank you to our supporters, partners, and volunteers for helping us turn miles into healthier lives.

Come stop by today! From 10am-noon, we will be giving away grocery bags at our drive-up food pantry. Come to the church during that time if you are struggling or need some extra help to make it through. Your privacy will be respected and no questions asked! You are welcome here! We will be giving out food until we run out of supplies. We'll see you here! Please follow our church's page for future events and information.

πŸ’™ A moment of true independence. πŸ’™

We Care of Central Florida is proud to celebrate our new partnership with UB3E, the philanthropic platform founded by Dr. Shenin Sachedina, who recently retired from a career in breast surgical oncology (December 2024) to expand her mission of giving back.

This story starts with an act of generosity born from love: a Polk County resident, after losing her husband, made the compassionate choice to donate his wheelchair lift so it could give someone else their freedom back. Thanks to her gift, expertly installed by The Mobility Store in Lakeland, Jan can now travel independently, with a lift that safely stores and retrieves her wheelchair right from her own van.

This is what community looks like: a family's loss becoming someone else's new beginning.

Our deepest thanks to this generous donor, to UB3E, and to The Mobility Store for making this possible. Learn more about UB3E's mission at wementorU.com. πŸšβ™Ώ
