Let’s face it, a lot of us struggle to quiet our minds.
If you’re highly sensitive, emotionally attuned, or constantly processing the world around you… your brain may rarely get a break. There’s always something to think about, analyze, remember, plan for, or feel.
That’s why it can seem confusing when something as stimulating as a concert actually feels relaxing.
The lasers.
The bass.
The lights.
The energy of the crowd.
For some people, that external stimulation occupies the mind just enough that it stops searching for the next thing to worry about.
Instead of directing all of your attention inward, your senses have somewhere else to go.
It’s not that the environment is calm, it’s that your mind finally gets a chance to let go of thoughts!
Of course, everyone is different, and not every highly sensitive person enjoys concerts. Yet if you’ve ever left a show feeling lighter, more free, or surprisingly regulated, this may be part of the reason why.
Sometimes the thing that helps us unwind isn’t less stimulation.
It’s the right kind of stimulation.
