It’s happened with so many clients.
They come into my office and tell me what’s troubling them. In the course of our session the situation didn’t change. Yet everything changed anyway.

This is what I witness in session after session.

Someone comes in carrying something heavy — grief, guilt, overwhelm, a situation they cannot fix or change.

And we don’t try to fix it. Instead we turn toward the parts inside that are carrying the weight of it.

With curiosity.
With appreciation.
With love.

Sometimes all it takes is someone reminding you — you are loved exactly as you are, no matter what’s happened — for the parts carrying guilt and judgment to finally soften.

The story doesn’t change. But when you look at it through the eyes of love — the whole thing softens.

That’s healing. ❤️‍🩹

This is what I mean when I say you can heal from anything. Not that hard things stop happening. But that you stop being alone with the parts that carry them.

That’s the central promise of my book. And I watch it happen every single week. 🧭💛

People wonder what healing will actually feel like.
Nobody hands you a certificate. There’s no finish line. No moment where someone says “You did it! You’re healed!”

What actually happens is quieter than that.

-You notice some inner softness where before your inner critic had permanent residence.
-You find yourself taking slow breaths during a hard conversation.
-You said no — and meant it — without three days of guilt afterward.
-You woke up and the first feeling wasn’t dread.

Small things. Quiet things. But unmistakable.
Healing feels like spaciousness where there used to be tightness.💖
It feels like compassion for yourself on a hard day instead of criticism.🫶🏻
It feels like joy surprising you — in an ordinary moment, on an ordinary Tuesday — when you weren’t even looking for it.🦋
That’s what parts work does. Quietly. Gently.
One part at a time. And one ordinary Tuesday at a time. 🧭💛

Three signs you’ve lost your inner compass — and don’t even know it:

Sign 1: You make decisions based on what everyone else needs. Not what you need. You’ve gotten so good at reading the room that you’ve completely lost the thread of what YOU actually want.

Sign 2: You feel chronically exhausted — but not from doing too much. From doing too much of the wrong things. Things that drain you instead of fill you.

Sign 3: Joy feels indulgent. Like something you’ll get to eventually — when the kids are older, when work calms down, when life settles. You’ve put joy on a waiting list and forgotten to check it.

These aren’t character flaws. They’re signs that parts of you have been working overtime to keep everyone else okay.

Your compass isn’t broken. It’s just been drowned out. You can recalibrate it 🧭

Which of those sounds like you? — 1, 2, or 3? Tell me in the comments. 💛

When did you stop doing the thing you loved?

Most people can name the exact moment.
For me it was 8th grade.

I loved making art. I took it as an elective because something in me just wanted to create.

My teacher looked at my work and told me I was bad at it.😞
I stopped making art for decades.😢

Most of us have a moment like this. Someone whose opinion mattered — a teacher, a parent, a sibling — said something that landed hard. And a part of us decided: not safe. Stop. 🛑

So we stopped singing. Or dancing. Or writing. Or painting. Or whatever it was that lit us up.

And we called it growing up.

But here’s what I know now: that wasn’t growing up. That was a part of you stepping in to protect you from being hurt again.

That part did its job beautifully. It just doesn’t have to keep doing it forever.

What did you stop doing? I’d genuinely love to know. 💛

Special message this month, honoring the poet Andrea Gibson: “whoever you are and whatever helps I hope today is a day you are finding the softest way through”

What messages (on the daily) help you point your inner compass? 🧭

It’s Macy’s first trip to the mountains! She reminds us every day to prioritize following our joy, and listening to intuition.

So far she has discovered that she loves her new car bed, that she is safe and sound and able to sleep in the car like a pro. She loves mountain streams, sleeping on the porch next to her mom, and playing with her soccer ball inside and out, vs actually watching a game.

How are your following your joy, your inner compass?
