Daniel “Danny” Cronin, 67, of Woburn passed away on Monday June 1st, surrounded by his loving family.

Danny was born in Medford MA to John and Jean Cronin. He was a graduate of NE Metropolitan Regional Vocational School in Wakefield MA. He grew up at the four corners of Woburn on Mayflower Road, a community of tight knit families. The Cronin’s are a large family that includes two sets of twins of which Danny was one of them.

Danny was a hardworking and talented man. He started working at the age of fifteen at McCue’s Garden Center in Woburn MA. It was there that Dan learned about horticulture and developed a lifetime passion for anything that grows. He loved working with his hands, learning about the products and serving clients. This would lead to him working for 45 years in the farmstand and grower industry.

Dan operated sixteen farm stands in the region over the years and took immense pride in his products and affordable prices. Danny’s personal service with a warm smile included time to understand the environment and gardening tips. He had a real knack for knowing what to put, where, when, and of course in what color.

Danny was a storyteller and he always had a way to enlist an ear for listening. He would draw you in, excite you and leave you wondering if it was real or not.

Dan would always say the greatest accomplishment in his life was the birth of his two children and the amazing success they have had in their lives. He regretted the time he missed with them. He had so much pride in what they have become.

Over the last six years Dan was employed at Colonial Gardens in Concord MA as a master grower. Under the leadership of Dave Giurleo at Colonial Dan would share all his industry experience, relationships, and passion. He quickly formed relationships with clients, suppliers, and community contacts. He collaborated with staff to develop and inspire them. Dave said he could not have asked for a more resolute and knowledgeable employee that cared about customers the way he did and was committed to doing the right thing.

We will tell you he was that and so much more. A brother, uncle, parent, grandparent, friend, grower, who will now meet his parents in heaven and together they will watch over the rest of the Family. He will be missed by all and we will be forever grateful for having had the opportunity to have him in our lives.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, June 16th, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn. A prayer service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
