It was a Spa Party celebration for Mothers Day! Our beautiful ladies got their hair done, hand masks, nails painted and some good food and drinks. We had so much fun celebrating all the Mothers!! 💙 In Honor of National Nurses Week, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate our incredible nursing staff and share just how special they truly are! 💙

This week, we are proud to spotlight Barb! 👩‍⚕️

Barb has been a nurse for an amazing 36 years. She spent 20 years working as a nursery nurse before transitioning into supportive living, where she has dedicated the last 16 years caring for residents with compassion and kindness.

When asked what inspired her to become a nurse, Barb shared:
✨ “I came from a large family, so I was very nurturing with my younger siblings.” ✨

One of the most rewarding parts of working in supportive living for Barb is simple but meaningful:
😊 “Seeing everyone’s smiles.” 😊

During her shifts, you can usually find Barb fueled by her favorites:
🥤 Coke Zero & 🍫 a Zero candy bar!

Barb says that strong communication and having a supportive team help make every shift run smoothly.

We also asked Barb what advice she would give to new nurses or anyone considering the nursing profession. Her advice:
💬 “Have a positive outlook. Learn to delegate, and have compassion.” 💬

High Point Wood River is incredibly grateful for Barb’s dedication, experience, and the compassionate care she provides to our residents every single day.
