Connections between math and children’s worlds, connections between math and other content areas, and connections between math content areas can all ensure that children have a better understanding and more positive feelings about math. During play, provide opportunities for your child to make connections between math content and what the child already knows about the world around them.

Here are some examples of connections during play and what you, as a caregiver, can do to support it.

To prevent curious kiddos from climbing dressers, make sure countertops stay clutter-free. Avoid placing toys, remote controls, or other tempting items on top—this reduces the risk of accidents and keeps your little ones safe. A tidy dresser means fewer climbing temptations!

Traveling with kids? A little prep goes a long way to making sure your trip is safe and enjoyable.

Before you go:

🩺 Book a pre-travel checkup for your child & stay up on their routine vaccines
🛡️ Look into travel insurance
🎒 Pack a travel health kit
📍 Know where to find medical care at your destination

Stay one step ahead:

🧼 Keep those hands clean
🍎 Help kids choose safer food options (bye-bye tummy troubles)
🦟 Prevent bug bites with sprays & covered skin
🌊 Practice water safety near pools, lakes, & beaches
🚗 Double-check their car seat setup for every ride

A little extra preparedness can go a long way in ensuring you and your children have a safe, fun trip!

Thawing food on the counter or in hot water? That’s a fast track to the Danger Zone (40°F–140°F), where bacteria thrive. Use these safe methods instead:
- Fridge: Slow but safe—add 24 hrs per 5 lbs
- Cold Water: Bag it, change water every 30 min, cook right away
- Microwave: Cook immediately after thawing
- From Frozen: Safe to cook—just add ~50% more time
