Last week, we proudly celebrated Patient Care Technician & Certified Nursing Assistants Week, an opportunity to recognize the exceptional care our PCTs and CNAs provide every day at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center and Sentara Lake Ridge.

Your compassion, skill, and dedication make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and their families, and we are so grateful for all that you do.

💡 Shine the Light on Sickle Cell – June 19 💡

Did you know that more than 100,000 Americans are living with Sickle Cell Disease? This chronic condition impacts individuals and families every day—and awareness is a powerful step toward change.

At Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, we’re proud to join the eighth annual “Shine the Light on Sickle Cell” campaign in recognition of World Sickle Cell Day on June 19, 2026. This global movement raises awareness, supports advocacy, and highlights the ongoing effort toward a universal cure.

👕 On Friday, our team members will be wearing red to stand in solidarity, spark conversations, and help on this important cause. And look for red illumination around the outside of the hospital building.

We invite our community to join us—wear red, learn more, and help spread awareness. Together, we can make a difference.

Tomorrow is the day that Long Family Farmers Market returns to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center for the season!

Join us every Thursday from 2–7 p.m. through October 15 in the hospital's main parking lot. You'll find:

✅ Baked goods & local treats
✅ Meats, seafood & specialty foods
✅ Handmade goods from local artisans

Also on Opening Day: The Sentara Health Plans (SHP) team will be at the farmer’s market on June 18th to answer questions about eligibility, coverage, benefits, and options SHP offers! With SHP, you’re more than a number – personal is part of the plan. Look for the SHP table.

Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center was proud to host students from Literacy Volunteers of America - Prince William, Inc. (LVA-PW) last week to talk about community service.

LVA PW is a nonprofit dedicated to providing free English reading, writing, speaking, and listening instruction to adults so they can achieve personal and career goals, support their families, and fully participate in the community. For 35 years, LVA PW has empowered adults across Prince William County with dignity, equity, and opportunity through the gift of literacy and health literacy.

We are honored to partner with LVA PW and deeply appreciate their commitment to improving community health by expanding access to literacy, education, and reliable health information.
