My patient is in her 50s and had a previous lumpectomy followed by radiation of her left breast. She now needed a bilateral mastectomy. She was interested in a tissue based reconstruction but was worried that she was too thing. I was able to reconstruct her with DIEP flaps.💞

A DIEP flap is a type of reconstruction in which blood vessels called Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforators, as well as the skin & fat connected to them, are removed from the lower abdomen & transferred to the chest to reconstruct a breast after a mastectomy without the sacrifice of any of the abdominal muscles. 📝📚📖

Breast reconstruction is a journey. This lovely woman had bilateral mastectomies and implant reconstruction. Sadly, one of her implants became infected and had to be removed. Fortunately I was able to reconstruct her with a “stacked DIEP flap” and achieve a symmetric result. She subsequently had 3D ni**le tattooing to complete her reconstruction. If you have a reconstruction that failed or you are unhappy with, give me a call and we can discuss your options.
