Hello! I’m Jessica, owner of The Body Shop Massage & Wellness.
I’ve been a Certified Massage Therapist and Health Educator since 2004 after completing a 720 hour hands-on training program at the National Holistic Institute in Emeryville, California. Over the past two decades, I’ve had the privilege of working with people from every walk of life, office professionals, first responders, healthcare workers, parents, athletes, tradespeople, and everyone in between. While every client is unique, one thing remains the same: every body has a story to tell.
My approach to massage goes far beyond simply working on the area that hurts. Pain isn’t always created where it’s felt, which is why I believe it’s important to look at the body as a whole. I draw from a variety of techniques and modalities to address the root of the problem whenever possible, while also recognizing the incredible connection between our muscles, fascia, nervous system, stress levels, and mental well-being.
That said, I also believe massage doesn’t always have to “fix” something. Sometimes the most therapeutic thing we can do is simply allow the body and mind to rest. Relaxation isn’t a luxury, it’s an essential part of healing.
I view every session as a collaboration. You are the expert on your body, and I bring over 20 years of education, experience, and clinical observation to help guide the process. Whether you’re looking for pain relief, stress reduction, improved mobility, recovery from the demands of daily life, or simply an hour to recharge, we’ll work together to create a session that’s tailored specifically to your needs.
I also believe education is an important part of healing. If you’re curious about what’s causing your discomfort or have questions during your session, I’m always happy to explain what I’m finding and why. My goal isn’t just for you to leave feeling better, it’s for you to better understand your body, too.
Massage has the ability to change how we move, how we feel, how we manage stress, and how we show up in our everyday lives. It’s an honor to be trusted with that responsibility, and I’m grateful for every client who allows me to be part of their wellness journey.
Whether it’s your first massage or your fiftieth, I look forward to welcoming you to my table.
