Pain relief matters, but it does not always mean the job is finished.

A person can feel better during normal daily activities while still lacking the strength, control, confidence, or tolerance required for lifting, sports, work, or exercise.

That is why rehab should not stop the moment symptoms decrease.

The next step is rebuilding your body’s ability to handle the activities that matter to you without constantly worrying that the pain will return.

Feeling better is the beginning.

Getting your life back is the goal.

DM “READY” if you feel better than you did before, but still do not trust your body to return to the things you enjoy.

Progress rarely starts with the perfect program, perfect equipment, or perfect timing.

It starts with choosing a reasonable place to begin and showing up consistently enough for your body to adapt.

That applies to fitness, but it also applies to rehab.

You do not have to be pain free, strong, flexible, or “ready” before taking the first step. You just need a starting point that matches what your body can currently tolerate and a plan that progresses from there.

Start where you are. Build from there.

DM “START” if pain or stiffness has been keeping you from getting back into a regular exercise routine.

Sometimes pain improves for a little while, but returns as soon as you get back to lifting, working, training, or everyday life.

That does not always mean you are out of options. It may mean the treatment reduced your symptoms without fully identifying what was driving the problem in the first place.

A thorough plan should look beyond where it hurts and evaluate how you move, what you can tolerate, and what keeps triggering the same issue.

DM “ROOT” if you are tired of the pain coming back even after “trying everything”.

Most people don’t just want less pain.

They want to drive, work, sleep, train, and move without constantly thinking about their neck.

That’s why the real goal matters.

DM “GOAL” if you’ve been dealing with pain that changes how you move, work, train, or live.

Take 10 seconds for yourself today. 🌿

Sometimes the best reset starts with a single breath.

Save this for the next time life feels a little overwhelming.

Shoulder pain brought him in. But stopping at the shoulder would’ve been a mistake.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that the painful area is always the problem.

Sometimes it is…Sometimes it isn’t.

As clinicians, our job is to determine whether the painful joint is the source of the problem, or simply the area that’s being asked to do more than it should.

That’s why this evaluation included more than just his shoulder.

I wanted to understand how the rest of his body was moving before making treatment decisions.

Could his hips have been contributing?
Maybe.

Could they have had nothing to do with it?
Also maybe.

The point isn’t to force every problem back to the hips or spine.

The point is to gather enough information to make an informed decision instead of guessing.

Pain tells us where to investigate and Movement helps us understand why.

Had a great workout this afternoon with Megan, John, Alejandro, and the team at HEW Fitness Woodstock. Thanks for having me!

As someone who spends every day helping people move better, I really appreciate coaches who prioritize movement quality just as much as intensity.

One thing that stood out wasn’t just the workout…
It was the coaching.

They were constantly moving around the room, paying attention to each individual, knowing when to challenge someone and when to scale things back based on their ability. That’s exactly what good coaching should look like.

The workout was fun, engaging, and well structured. It pushed me without feeling overwhelming, and the atmosphere was incredibly welcoming.

I know group fitness, and especially CrossFit-style training, sometimes gets a reputation for being intimidating or “one size fits all.” That definitely wasn’t my experience today.

If you’re looking for a place to get stronger, improve your fitness, and be surrounded by coaches who truly care about how you move, I’d definitely recommend checking them out!

Pain is a signal. It’s trying to teach you something is off.

But it isn’t always the source of the problem.

Think about it like this…

If your car’s check engine light comes on, you don’t replace the light.

You figure out what’s causing it to turn on.

Your body works the same way.

The area that hurts is often the part working the hardest, not necessarily the part that started the problem.

That’s why simply chasing symptoms often leads to temporary relief instead of lasting change.

The goal isn’t just finding where it hurts.

It’s understanding why it hurts.

One of the biggest misconceptions about chiropractic is that the goal is to keep you coming back forever.

That’s never been my goal.

My goal is to help you build a body that’s resilient enough to handle the things that matter most to you.

Playing golf.

Working out.

Traveling.

Keeping up with your kids or grandkids.

Living your life without constantly wondering if your back, shoulder, or knee is going to flare up.

Does that mean you’ll never have another injury or need help again?

Of course not…Life happens.

But if I can help you become more confident, more capable, and less dependent on me over time, then I’ve done my job.

Healthcare should empower you, not create dependency.
