Should you just wait for low back pain to go away?

Not always. Pain along the middle of the spine can sometimes be a sign of a pars fracture, especially in athletes who do a lot of extension and rotation. The earlier it’s identified, the better the outcome tends to be.

Could your low back pain be a pars fracture?

Pars fractures are a common source of low back pain, especially in athletes who repeatedly extend and rotate their spine. Early diagnosis is important because these injuries typically require time for the bone to heal. With the right rehab process, most athletes can successfully return to sport.

Do you struggle with hip tightness or low back discomfort while running?

Tight hip flexors and poor core control can place extra stress on the lower back during running mechanics. These mobility and strengthening exercises help improve hip mobility, core stability, and lower back control to keep runners moving more efficiently and reduce unnecessary strain.

How do baseball players train rotational power?

A lot of it comes down to creating force through the hips and learning how to transfer that energy through rotation. Exercises like scoop tosses, rotational presses, and separation drills can help develop explosive power. Training both sides and focusing on control is just as important as producing force.

Does having a slight scoliotic curve automatically mean something is wrong?

Not necessarily. A lot of baseball and rotational athletes develop mild curves that may actually be part of adapting to the demands of their sport. The angle of the curve and overall movement quality are usually more important than just the presence of a curve alone.

Can training your non-dominant side actually improve performance?

For rotational athletes like baseball players, absolutely. Working both directions can help balance the spine while also improving neural output and power on the dominant side. It’s a simple training concept that can have a huge impact on performance over time.

Do you want quicker lateral movement and better lower body control?

This plate push drill helps athletes improve lateral force production and hip stability while training the ability to push explosively off the ground. Training quick lateral pushes like this helps athletes improve lower body explosiveness, hip stability, and change of direction mechanics that can carry over to baseball and other rotational sports.

How do we evaluate for a meniscus injury?

We’re looking for symptoms like joint line tenderness, pain with bending and straightening, and any catching or clicking in the knee. Rotational movements can also increase discomfort when the meniscus is irritated. Those findings help us determine whether the meniscus may be torn or contributing to the pain.

The meniscus is a special type of cartilage in the knee called fibrocartilage that helps absorb shock and provide stability. Each knee has two menisci, the medial meniscus on the inside and the lateral meniscus on the outside. Their job is to help distribute force, protect the joint surfaces, and improve movement mechanics. Meniscus injuries are one of the most common knee injuries seen in sports and active individuals. The medial meniscus is the most commonly injured because it is less mobile and attached more firmly to surrounding structures. Twisting, pivoting, deep squatting, or sudden changes in direction can increase the risk of injury. Symptoms may include pain, swelling, locking, clicking, or a feeling that the knee is giving out. Physical therapy can help reduce pain and swelling while improving mobility and strength around the knee. Rehab also focuses on balance, stability, and correcting movement patterns to safely return to activity. Early treatment and a structured rehab plan can make a huge difference in recovery and long-term knee health.
